Why am I getting taken to diabetes destroy on this forum?

I've only just logged in now and I'm using safari too. So far I haven't had a problem but have only clicked on this post though. I have cleared my cookies and caches.

arggghh.... **** I just got it again too when I tried to go to the Type 2 on insulin section. Obviously the problem isn't fixed as yet. It opened up a new tab on me in safari too.

Thoughts on removing these offending threads? They serve no useful purpose, especially given these reported intrusions.

I use Firefox and thought I had escaped this little bug, till tonight that is. I came across it via a message from a new member, and also when I tried to contact Giverny to report it. I had to clear cache and cookies 2-3 times before it now seems to be ok. I guess we will all have to keep our eyes open for a few days ....

Do you mean like an entire section of the forum I was trying to access? or you mean this post I posted because it wouldn't allow me to search what is going on?

Nope, just any thread where you're redirected thru clicking on a link and the browser hijacked or misbehaving with popups. Granted I don't know the full extent of it but seen enough to warrant a rollback to find out who has had what trouble with what links and what threads and dump them. Nothing to do with any member at all. That is one reason I never look at links ....

Sorry to hear of the problem with diabetes destroyer, I have been lucky and not seen it, but I couldn't get on the forum yesterday evening, said 'error' so many times , so I left it and then went back later and normal service had resumed.
I have googled in a couple of questions and found that some have instructions on 'How to hack any forum out there' and tutorials too !!

I think it happens on any thread at random so deleting offending threads wouldn't work. This one is not necessarily to do with links. Well that's what it seems to me anyway.

The problem is we don't really know, especially from our side of the screen and the last thing any forum would want to be is a target, as the methods and technology used today, can be used for the 'darker side '

I know someone reported being redirected when they clicked on a thread that I have posted, so I don't think it is a problem with posters, rather a problem with the forum security being hijacked - although the technicalities are well beyond me. But I don't think we can assume that any threads where this is happening is caused by a spammer on the thread. & selfishly I would rather that my thread with helpful information for me wasn't just "dumped" because of a technical glitch, if possible.

I'm really glad either my virus protection and/or Firefox and/or Ad Block is sparing me. Sounds like an absolute nightmare for the people it keeps happening to :(

Its still happening, its getting really frustrating........there is no rhyme or reason, click on one thread fine go to another and wham and it just wont go so am having to shut down the whole page .......Grrrrrrr and yes done the cookie and cache thing....

Don't disagree at all ... but it is a concern and with security paramount for all members, for me precedence must be with isolating whatever it might be and ensuring others don't encounter similar problems. Not my call by any stretch, but I hate inconvenience inflicted on others thru no fault of their own

It's just happened again. I'm on iPhone with Safari browser, PC is different browser. I'm technically challenged anyway, but this has only been happening since the recent thread by @Diabetes easycure, which has at long last been locked. I didn't click on any link, but Googled the Dr mentioned, which took me to his website. Coincidence, well, I'm not so sure. I've never had this problem before, and I'm wondering how many that are having this issue have read or participated in that particular thread. Cookies/cache cleared by the way, it hasnt worked.

I've got it now too! When I clicked on a link to a thread on the recent posts page it came up. Interestingly I had just cleared my cookies and other rubbish to solve another problem (not to do with this forum) and it's only appeared since then. I'm using Microsoft Edge right now if that helps.

I'm no expert but in my experience when I've been redirected to a site not of my choice it's meant I've been infected... in these situations Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has been my friend..
I would be interested if any of those getting this clicked the link the recently closed "I've been cured of DB".... it looked like a troll to me but am now wondering....

Microsoft Edge on my PC, Safari on iPhone and I use Marwarebytes - think DCUK have got their work cut out with this one.:grumpy:

We *now* believe the vulnerability has been fully patched. It seemed to be a cache issue with the discussion list page. This has been fixed, sorry to everyone about the inconvenience and a massive thanks for reporting the bugs. If anyone spots any others please PM/post on this thread. (It may be worth deleting your cache before reporting any bugs, though - we've forced a cache refresh of the forum from the server too.)
