Why am I putting on weight?

On diagnosis on 24 Feb 2015 I was 13st 1lb. Lowest weight loss so far was 26 Jul 2017 at 8st 2lbs. Unfortunately since then my weight has increased to 8st 10lbs. My BG is in the 5's, never going even to 6 including fasting test in the morning. I haven't changed my LCHF diet, in fact I eat even less now.

Today I have had:-
No breakfast just coffee with cream.
Lunch - 2 small plum toms, olives, 60g tuna with teaspoon of mayonnaise.
Dinner - plain chicken breast, mushrooms, cauliflower cheese, cabbage and mixed peppers. A few blueberries with double cream.

During the day - 2 coffees with d cream and 4 with s cream. 4 or 5 glasses of water.

My walking exercise is the same even increased.

Why is this happening to me.
 
Were you underweight when you got to 8st2lb?
 
Hi Carol

Not sure what to suggest but don’t think you’re alone in finding it harder to maintain weight loss than to lose it in the first place.

I’m having to be very vigilant not to end up putting weight back on. My lowest weight (in August) was 57.8 kg. I crept up to 59.6 a couple of weeks ago, got it back to 58.4 and am now back at 59. I’ve set an upper limit of 59.5 but it seems that the smallest of deviations will lead to increases. I’ve found that cutting out sweeteners and anything dessert like helps.

Looking at your menu it seems very light - is it possible you’re not eating enough and your body is trying to cling on to everything it can?

Your BG is great and that’s the main thing.
 
@carol43 - Have you had your thyroid checked of late? Could it be it's struggling a tiny bit?

Isn’t it normal for ones weight to go up and down by a kilo or two? Things like fluid retention/minor dehydration, exercise, food intake - they all make it fluctuate. All my life my weight has fluctuated by a kilo or two on a day to day basis and I think many people have the same variations.
 
is it possible you are perimenopausal? that affects weight gain and loss as well as starting the creep where we need less food to function.
 
If your thyroid is suspect then it might very well be the cause - I was showing symptoms of failing thyroid for a long time before it was diagnosed, as it is common for there to be recoveries - sometimes many times before it goes completely, but it was never caught at a low point right up until the time it was - at which point the TSH was about 4000 times the normal level.

So long as you eat enough when you do eat - particularly fat - it shouldn’t be a problem. I just find it much harder to do now that I’ve dropped my weight. Having said that I last ate at around 2.15pm yesterday and am not planning on eating (a small amount of cream in my morning tea is allowed) again until lunch today.

Give it a whirl - can’t hurt and might be enough to jerk your body into cooperating!
