Hi before bfast my sugars were 6:3.. i had 1 egg 3 pieces of bacon a tomato and a mushroomanand a sausage.i had half a piece of toast and 2 hrs later my bloods are 8:3.. why is this i thought i was being good having very little carbs.this happens a lot cud i have lada. As i used to be on insulin and was told to taper off cause losing weight, but since i tapered off the insulin and just on metformin control dosnt seem as good. Thats why im thinking lada.my type 2 started wen i was in 30s so did my mums.so this is what makes me wonder.thanks

Maybe try it again tomorrow but without the toast? I can't tollerate carbs in the morning at all. If I have my homemade low carb bread I tend to have that late afternoon, as my body can tollerate it better then.

Also, check the ingredients of the sausage. Some are padded out with wheat rusk.

Sorry don't know about lada. Someone will be along soon who does, no doubt.

Hi. It will be the toast and padding in the sausage? Ref LADA it is difficult to say. If at age 30 you were overweight when diagnosed then T2 is more likely and low-carbing with Metformin would be the usual approach but you were put onto insulin; why were you put onto insulin? Losing weight is not really a good reason to come off insulin is it? I would have thought blood sugar control in relation to your diet were the criteria? I think you need to discuss your history with the GP/DN because it seems a bit strange but there may well be good reasons. Metformin will only reduce blood sugar by a bit. I think the key to this is what your last or next HBa1C is. If it is above 7 then more tablets like Gliclazide may be needed. If above 7.5 then I would have expected insulin to be back on the agenda. So in summary get to normal weight if you aren't already and see where your HBa1C is? Take it from there. Ref LADA if normal weight and still poor control with tablets then suspect LADA.

Sausages can be dangerous things !! I had a 14 after 2sausages which seemed to be the lowest carb choice at the time

You started at 6.3! That does not allow much room for calories of any sort if you don`t want to go above high sevens. I would try again and see what reading you get at 1 hour. and 3 hours. You had a lot of bacon ( fat )which slows emptying of the stomach.

i would do away with the fried egg, milk in your tea ok im a type 1 in the last month ive had to stop eggs, and milk in my tea, i now have powdered milk. and my readings are much better.

Hi my last hba1c.was 6%.. ibwas overweigjt but lost 8 stone. I was on the insuulin mainly because i was trying for a baby.and found cudnt have any more so because hba1c as droppong he said to taper of it.according to weathetspoons the sausages are carb free
