I understand what makes this happen, but my question is what is the best way to stop it? I am T2 on Lantus that I take at bed time and Apidra that I take with meals. I am Keto now for 8 weeks and my blood sugars are coming down and I have cut my Lantus by 10 units and cut my Apidra down too some meals I don't need to take it at all. When I wake up around 5:30 am I take my Blood sugar and I take it again 1-2 hours later and it has gone up 30-50 points. I am not eating anything after 5 pm nothing to drink but water at bed time my blood sugars are normal for me 100-120. I am intermittent fasting so I don't eat again until 11 am - 12 pm. I eat a low carb small lunch and a low carb dinner I have been doing this about 8 weeks now. I know its going to take some time to heal my body but this big spike of blood sugar in the mornings is driving me crazy and I am seeking ways to get these morning numbers in control with out having to us my Apidra because I am not eating in the mornings and I dislike having to correct these highs with insulin. If I don't correct these highs with insulin it take until 11 am or after for them to come into a normal range. I have lost 20 pounds from eating Keto and like I said my other numbers are getting better so I know what I am doing is working I just need to teak it here and there I guess.
