Why is the Freestyle libre so inaccurate?

The first two days using it, it was incorrect by about 0.2-0.7 mmol but now there’s 3 days left for the sensor to expire and sometimes my Libre says 2.5 when my glucose meter says 5.2.

Why is it so inaccurate? Is the Dexcom any better? (Not that i would be able to finance it or anything just asking out of interest)

Could it have come loose at all? Usually if it’s been accurate and then gone haywire I’ve found that it’s come away a bit so the cannula isn’t in as far.

I’ve also had them be this inaccurate from day one though.

If you speak to Abbott they will likely replace it for you, but keep the bad one as they usually ask for you to send it to them for testing.

Mine reads low too, and not consistently low, so I just can’t add a value.. I noticed this is more so if I’m just lounging around. It tends to be more accurate if I’m moving around, getting the juices flowing.

Hi,

I calibrate my Libre with a Miaomiao combo using Xdrip. What I do find is it can be slightly ahead of my meter by 15/20 minutes, so I deduct the time on the graph which at that point with Xdrip I can tap on the point & get that reading from 20 minutes back in the bottom left corner. (give or take 0.7/8mmol?) it's certainly slow to responding when coming up off hypos.

Are you rehydrated enough? That can affect it.
I have noticed the odd sensor can get a bit "scatty" towards the last day? Especially when active.
But that's just my observation.

I too have the same concerns regarding accuracy particularly at the low end of the spectrum. however the Libre sensor cive much more information and allowed me much more freedom. if you check more the trend function will help you avoid those lows.
