Why you should eat broccoli !

There are a multitude of reasons why broccoli remains of the most consumed vegetables among athletes and bodybuilders. For one, broccoli is filled with vitamins and minerals that aid with numerous processes and functions in the body. Broccoli contains considerable amounts chromium, the mineral that is essential for metabolizing carbohydrates, fats, and proteins and simultaneously controlling blood-sugar levels (insulin).

In addition to chromium, because it is so dense, the body can actually expend more calories utilizing and digesting the broccoli than its base calorie content. Simply put, you don't have to worry about the calories when you're putting down a large serving of broccoli. You're getting all the good stuff while your body burns calories.

Broccoli also contains a moderate amount of calcium, which is responsible for combating calcitriol (a compound that tries to suppress your body's ability to break down fat storage). Moreover, broccoli contains 'relatives' to amino acids that help protect against stress, provide cell defense, and ultimately combat certain types of cancer. Lastly, broccoli contains indole-3-carbinol, a muscle-friendly compound that appears to abate the effects of estrogen, encourage higher testosterone levels, reduce bodyfat, limit negative water retention, and increase muscle growth.

Maybe you would like more long broccoli. I mean the one with stalks. They are much better

Broccoli and all veggies are good for us. There is a good post somewhere on here about eating a rainbow of veggies.

One word of warning though, anyone who is taking warfarin shouldn't suddenly decide to eat lots more broccoli. It's very high in vitamin K which helps blood to clot. If you change the amount that you eat regularly it can change your INR levels so with an increase in vitamin K your INR level may drop.

(I have to watch that one when I go home and start catering for my father, he eats very few veggies on his own and I make lots)

Brocolli and garden peas are my favourite veg
Next favourite is green beans, cauliflower and leeks!
Prefer carrots mashed up with a bit of butter in though...

Had salmon , brocolli plus fresh garden peas in a cucumber and prawn cream sauce tonight at pub .
Met an old friend - we had tea together and a good girly natter :)

Arrogant/unhelpful people. Spiders/bugs basically anything with 6-8 legs. Creeps me out.
Hate mud unless I'm camping oddly
I have to say I'm funny with broccoli, I need it mixed with something like a stir fry. I pretty much love all the other veggies though :D
