Will diabetes effect how tattoos heal

I was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and i want tattoos and i was told that the diabetes would effect my healing so does anyone know if it would effect tattoos healing?

I suppose that it might slow your healing if your blood sugars are high but plenty of T1s on these forums have tattoos, including ones to say that they are diabetic

Hi,

Depends on your management? With any wound healing. Though that’s easier said than done..

Tattoos, to be fair. If you do decide? Go to one with a good rep & references. & follow the aftercare instructions whilst healing.
That’s all I did with mine.
 
Got 10 and a half never had a problem , , used Berpanthin it’s a nappy rash cream healed great

Nah I’m caked in tattoos, most done while diabetic, I also take blood thinners, beta blockers, terrible control, you will be fine

Hustle Butter Deluxe, best thing out there in my opinion for healing

Hi Ellie, I’ve been a Type 1 diabetic for over 50 years and had two tattoos. All I did was followed the after care instructions and made sure they stayed clean…healed in no time
 
All my tattoo's were done as a diabetic and healing is normal, for me anyway, the only reason I could see if your numbers are consistently high this may have an effect on healing.
 
I’ve had all 6 of mine whilst having diabetes. My control for all but 1 of them was shockingly bad and all of mine healed well and within normal times. I just followed the aftercare instructions given by my artist. It’s recommended to have good control as it can aid in the healing and less chance of infection.
