Now the weather has decided to chill my mind has gone to warming foods I used to make veg soup with dumplings .Does any one know how to make fairly low carb dumplings?I also fancy pea and ham soup my packet of peas is 8.2 g per 80g serving .I think that if I make my soup with 80g of peas and a fairly large ham shank and make it fairly thick I could have a decent sized portion with more ham than pea(if you know what I mean) .

another thought ...

If you are into low carbing how about giving some thought to joining lowcarbfriends dot com. They have sections all about Low Carb Recipe help & suggestions.

I made a nice discovery by accident the other day - I had a ham shank and a bag of ready prepared soup veg - carrots, onions and swede I think - lobbed it all in a pan and then found 2 packets of green beans that needed using up so lobbed them in too.

I always liquidise my soups so son will eat them - when i whizzed this one up it went a lovely green colour and tasted just like pea n ham - even hubby said - "wow pea n ham thought that had been relegated to the too carby bin" - was quite impressed when I told him what I had done - he said he couldn't tell the difference - so less carby than pea n ham but just as tasty :D - by the way I do take my ham shank out before I whizz it - but that is obvious I suppose

I am a great believer of wanging everything into the chopper/blender as it cooks so much quicker .. and also getting as much variety into the pot as available. Our only restriction is the only smallish general shop available to me without travelling into town by bus or car (usually car this time of year). The local shop only sells easily available veg that he knows he will sell reasonably quickly and they are not very adventurous around here out in the sticks.

I did a very similar veg soup today without the carrot I added a little of last nights roast pork after cooking and that was very nice .Might try that with a ham shank, thanks.LL
