World Diabetes Day 14th November

I heard a little item about it on R4 this evening, about the diabetes epidemic in India

Nobody told me about it. How are we celebrating?

My choir was singing at Hounslow's "Finding a Voice" festival yesterday, at the Waterman's Theatre, Brentford. We (Caroliners) were billed as the famous over-50s choir :D There were stands covering all aspects of older peoples' needs, including diabetes.

I led the choir off the stage - all black curtains - first into a cupboard, then into the lift. It took about 5 minutes to get back to the dressing room :(

Tonight I'm going to Gilbert & Sullivan's "Gondoliers." Members of my tennis club are singing, though not me.

Ian, I think this is local to you.

An information stand to raise awareness of diabetes risk will be in the main entrance lobby at Hillingdon Hospital from 10.00 - 13.30. Diabetes nurses will be available to speak to the public. We plan to show the downloadable film and PPT available from the World Diabetes Day website. The free literature and visual display should attract attention.

On Saturday, 15 November the display will be installed at an Autumn Fayre event in Waterloo Road Church

There are a fair number of local events. Also, the London Eye, the Tower of London (and lots of places throughout the UK) will be lit in blue. Blue ribbons and info will be distributed in London.
Unfortunately it coincides with Children in need.

Thanks, Phoenix.

We had two boys in Hillingdon with meningitis when our third was about two weeks from being born. Both recovered well. Wellington Rd Church is in our group of evangelical churches. (FIEC)

I won't be there though. I contributed yesterday.
