I thought all carbs were sugars and should be counted as such?
No it does'nt
what matters is Low Triglycerides which are also a marker for low small LDL C the dangerous kind, and high HDL to Total cholesterol ratio - the higher HDL the better .
Eating saturated fat IMPROVES these ratios .
Triglycerides in the blood stream come from eating carbs!

I've always wondered about the sailors who lived off salted beef and other meats in their months away at sea in days before refrigerations. Did they die on board from heart attacks, always? I cannot see why they would not see so much salt as poison? If it is.I have avoided it like the plague for decades because of high BP. I'm getting tired of the rubbish advice that I've been given over the years. I'm tempted to stop listening all together.

They probably died of scurvy before they could develop heart problems.I've always wondered about the sailors who lived off salted beef and other meats in their months away at sea in days before refrigerations. Yes, I think at least 6 of Dr Axe's 12 contain plenty of carbs. But figs are really high on sugars, especially the dried ones, isn't it?
My dietician put 'en on the "do not eat" list.
