Insulin injections aren't automatically necessary. Many of us find we can lower our hba1c levels by adopting a low carb way of eating, and many of us don't need any medication at all.

What do you eat in a typical day?

I do eat a lot of carbs & drink pints of beer.

Typical day, sugar free muesli with blueberries, grapefruit, raspberries.
2 cups tea, then 2 cups coffe, 2 slices of buttered toast.

Lunch, sandwich, nuts for snacks.

Evening meal, meat, veg, potatoes.

Beer on Friday & Saturday, beer & wine on Sunday

That's a fairly small rise, and could be accounted for by the acceptable error in the test.

However, if you're wanting to reduce your blood glucose (which in my opinion is a good idea) then (like a lot of people here) I have had success by cutting out carbs - in my case fairly drastically, but I had a lot of nasty symptoms and wanted things to happen quickly.

So - I dropped cereals, potatoes, bread, fruit, sugar, pastry, pasta, rice etc. And beer.... although I've since found a pretty good source of zero-carb beers that scratches the itch. It worked really quickly for me, and I've stuck to it for nearly five years now. Some willpower is needed. Best of luck, and if you want more detail just ask.
