Hi all,
My husband is currently in hosp and has been for a week, basically he had a kidney transplant 15 months ago and things have been a nightmare since his recovery has been very slow with him basically not feeling any better than before transplant/dialysis. he was not a diabetic.
We had our first holiday abroad after consultantion with the renal consulatant and given the go ahead to go.
We went begininning oct, 2 wks portugal first week great then down hill from there. I watched my husband go from a 52 yr old very intell retired professional to feeling and acting like some one 30 yrs older. He was not well at all We thought it was a virus.
We came home and straight to docs who stated he was now diabetic after blood tests and needed to be admitted urgently to hosp this was also affecting his kidney and hes on a renal ward. We knew nothing about diabetes and were told his reading were 26.9 and he was placed in a drip and feeling very poorly. What i dont undersstand is that i have looked at his renal records and he has attended all his renals clinic and from january this year his bg was 10 and was 22 a week before we went. No one told us and hes received no treatment. i dread to think what might of happened while we were away if we had stayed longer. His reading today is 14 and hes still unwell. im furious at the hosp for not picking this up. your thoughts please
