Sorry for such a strange thing but am feeling quite emotional

I cut my thumb quite deep last Wednesday. And it’s almost gone!

So 5 days and the wound is sore but hardly there!!

I had noticed things took long time to heal but just thought that was perfectly normal. I guess diabetes creeps up so slowly you just don’t notice things!

I’m emotional because it means I’m getting better. My body is getting better and starting to work normally again!! I’m also emotional because it’s clearly been not working for a long time and I just didn’t know!!

It’s surreal!

I know this sounds stupid, but I hadn’t noticed how unwell I was. Even now it feels odd to say it.

It’s scary but also exciting because if things are getting better and my sugars are still too high at 54, what on Earth is it going to be like if I can get back to normal.

It almost feels like a super power in the films where people heal stupidly quick

And there you’ve just found your motivation for sticking with it when the going is tough! Remember this feeling. Bottle it.

Cana - I know a lot of us seem very "sorted", but those of us in a good place haven't got here overnight. We've all had stalls, bumps in the road and all the other cliches you can think of.

My diabetes thing was odd as I was asymptomatic and as such the "feeling better" didn't really happen, but when I went gluten-free, after several weeks, I realised I felt different. I was bemused by it.

My suggestion to you is to bottle this feeling of realisation and ask yourself if it can get even better? Nobody knows the answer to that question, but you've made a few quantum leaps of late. Well done again.

I am so happy to read this <3

Yep, same. I realise now at times when I am ill that I really was unwell before diagnosis!

Yep, unmanged diabetes can be a problem.

But?
This happened with an angle grinder. A while back. Thought I may have needed stitches at the time? (Picture taken the night before it realy kicked off. Puss filled & weepy.)
Just focused on the BGs. & also just bandaged at A&E. Was also given a course of antibiotics it was angry & infected.

But now...I expected a scar but no further issues.
