Wow - Remission is possible!

Hi all,

(History: Hba1c 52 on 21/7/22. Weight 77kg. BMI 30. B.P. - Normal. no medications taken. Diet & exercise lifestyle changes agreed with GP initially).

I received great news today from GP after following your suggestions of a low carb, high healthy fat diet & being more active/ exercising over the last 3 months. The hard work has paid off as my Hba1c score is now 40!!!!! Out of diabetic and pre diabetic ranges in 3 months. Incredible! I'm totally in shock but so so grateful to you all for giving me my health back.

Today's stats; Hba1c 40, Weight 71.5kg,
BMI 28, B. P. - normal.

Just a huge thank you to everyone on this forum for all the strength, hope & advice, which helped me turn my diabetes around. Now it's about maintenaning this lifestyle & keeping what I've got & spreading this message to others. Thanks to you all.

Alan

Well done you! & keep up the good work! :)

Brilliant
I too came down from 54 to 36
It’s an amazing feeling but it’s a never ending battle
I reversed it initially through diet and exercise.
Then I naively went back into bad habits and had a shock as it had crept up to 54
This time aided by medication but again diet and exercise reversed it
Lesson learnt

I have been following the LCHF diet since diagnosis over 5 years ago. My first hba1c whilst on gliclazide was 39 so was taken off the gliclazide. My hba1c levels have stayed under 39 but pleased to say my last one was 36. I take prednisolone for polymalgia rheumatica ( my diabetes is steroid induced) so was really happy
