Wrist slapping?

I had my annual diabetes review the end of july and since having it i have had 3 letters from the doctor asking me to arrange a telephone consultation,

1 letter was about the urine test, the next was about the blood test, and the next was blood pressure.

I know my hba1c slipped from 7.2 to 10.2


So im guessing the call will be so he can slap my wrists for being a bad boy?

What if i dont make an appointment? Can they restrict my care or prescriptions?

I doubt that they can refuse you treatment. I also doubt that missing your appointment is going to help you control your diabetes. What it will do is make attending the next appointment even more difficult.

I doubt they'll give you a slap on the wrist. Even if they do, a bit of mild wrist sting is minor compared with bleeding eyeballs or amputated feet.

C'mon fella, you can do this.

Try to see it more that they may try to help you get your figures down to safer levels than wrist slapping. Even if it is a slapped wrist, the alternative as graphically described by Borofergie are none too nice and a slapped wrist sounds much better to me.

Go on, call the GP at least it's not a face to face telling off

i dreaded going to my gp when i got a letter from asking me to go to discuss my results. my hba1c was 12.9.

But in the end i figured there is no point avoiding the facts. i went and i did not get shouted at or anything. few months later and i am due another hba1c.....fingers crossed it will have improved...

Take heart and make an appointment!!!!

The obvious question is why you dropped so badly and maybe also whether the NHS is in part responsible.... and now they want to make amends and you shun them.

I too suggest making and keeping an appointment. Any admonition will be at best temporary... and mere words. We here will be fascinated to hear the upshot. And of course will respond where you might want.

It is your life, your illness.

Take control of it with the first step - phone and book an appointment. In six months this will all seem a bad joke.

Doctors are your servant do not be intimidated by them. 8)

I guess i see your point, and i think i just dont like being told ive not done well when i already know it

Make the appointment ask for test strips or more strips if you already get them and tell the GP that you are ready to take more control of your DB . This should give you brownie points then do it :!:

Im lucky enough to get 150 strips a month.. Its the take control part i am struggleing with
