wrongly prescribed metformin?

ok so why did the diabetes nurse just ring me to ask how much metformin im taking a day... "4 1000mg tabs a day" I said (as prescribed)...... "You should only be taking 2" she said.......*** so ive been taking double the dose for at least a year? MAYBE THATS WHY I'VE BEEN FEELING LIKE ****?

Oh dear! Yes, 2000mg is the max dose. I'm not sure what double the dose would do; hopefully as it's a fairly innocuous drug it won't have done much harm.
