You get excited when your pump company comes out with new updates or colors
You say that you feel ‘high’ in public and then wonder why people around you give you weird looks
You’ve been known to often say “this one time, at diabetes camp…”
You think regular soda tastes completely disgusting
You know what the terms A1C, diabetic ketoacidosis, glucagon, basal/bolus, and endocrinologist mean
You know the amount of carbohydrates in basically every food known to man
You have a favorite flavor of glucose tabs (and you know what they are)
You notice a friend’s been drinking a lot and you automatically assume they must be an undiagnosed diabetic
You’re parents ask how you’re doing and you tell them your blood sugar
You have test strips all over you purse, car, and bedroom
You hear something beep and you wonder if it’s your cell phone or insulin pump
You think it’s funny seeing the look on people’s fabces when you give an injection in public restroom
You think of blood sugar not bull **** when you see the initials BS
You use being low as an excuse when you do something dumb, but get extremely offended if you're in a bad mood and someone tells you to test your sugar
You are abnormally good at multiplying by 15. Thank you carb counting.
You have a debate about the best & worse glucose tab flavors and take it seriously

so that we can look on the lighter side of being a diabetic xxxxxxx

Beetroot, Cucumber, Radish, Prawns - and arrogant people that have no understanding of how ill you can really be without looking ill
Made me laugh for sure

The test strips everywhere one is so very true. I've spotted rogue strips of mine lying peaking out from behind desks at work, in a locker at my gym, at friends houses, in the loo in pubs, everywhere!! I try to be careful with them but they are tricky little bu**ers!

LOL

You forgot that you know you are diabetic (when first diagnosed at least) when it takes you about 3x longer to do your shopping as you nod your head, frown and tut at the carb content in the food you pick up.

People that feel just because diabates is a life-threatening "illness" it should be treated with kid gloves and nobody is allowed to have a laugh. My humour got me through abuse, near death experiences, serious and debilitating illnesses and lifelong pain and deformity - why give up the thing that works??
oh that was good ... I can relate to many of those pointers ... I forget that some people are actually a bit afraid of blood and often do my BG test on the table and watch people turn white *oooops*

Getting up early on the first work day of the New Year, you're shocked to see a 1.9 with no symptoms... as the first glug of Lucozade goes down you realise you haven't tested yet. The 1.9 was the outdoor temperature on your new digital weather station

Glad to have brought a smile to your day, I laughed too. The combination of laughter and Lucozade isn't good either! Must remember not to assume any digital display with a number is my bg reading...
