Rivers of Babylon - Boney M

Barbie Girl, always turned the radio off when that came on.

I suspect that this might be a contentious one, but my nomination would be Lola, by the Kinks.

Ray Davies is one of the UK's finest songwriters and the Kinks have a long and distinguished back catalogue, most of which I love, but there's something about this song that I really dislike, and I'm not sure what it is although it's emphatically not the subject matter.

It's a bit of a dirge and maybe I'm suffering from having heard it too often, but every time it comes on the radio I want to tear my head off.......

Taking cover now :D

I still like Lola, but much prefer the Weird Al parody - Yoda. :)

Mother of mine, Neil ? Scottish lad, just too corny, :meh: :stop:
Oh yeh, my Mum gave that to me. Neil Reid ? I think perhaps she thought I was an ungrateful brat. lol And the line 'all of my life to do as I please' used to really make me laugh........maybe you had to know my Mum to understand that comment.

Yes Neil Reid, I could picture him, but couldn't place the surname without googling

Given one of my favourite songs is Paper Lace's Billy don't be a hero , I'm probably not best placed to answer this.

Hotel California

(Runs for the hills)
