Hey guys, phoned the dsn today and told her of my high readings, she suggests i put lantus up by 1 unit its maybe the background insulin is not enough.. Im doing the best i can, im doing correction doses and even skipped lunch today , there still sitting around 15 -.- i dont know what is wrong, please some suggestions how to safely get my levels down please? And no negative comments, i don wana hear that i will die and will become ill, im trying my best here.

Hi and welcome. The DSN has given good advice. Mine told me to aim for fasting blood sugar between 5 - 7mmol as a guide. A bit depends on whether you split the dose or not. I'm on Levemir and don't split. I assume you carb-count your Bolus dose? If your post meal sugar is too high despite the pre-meal level being OK, then the ratio may need to tweaked but get the Basal right first. Do discuss with the DN. I find my Basal does need to be changed fairly often for no particular reason

Lantus needs a chance to work, Obviously as you have missed lunch and sitting at 15 it stands to reason you haven't enough basal.
Other suggestions check to make sure your pens are working and if so change the cartridges in both the basal and bolus.

Thank u for replying, but im sorry i dont understand that atall :( and i have to get under 19 before i can get 5&7 lmao..

@bigboi, if these high bg readings have only come about over the last few days then do change your insulin cartridges, it might be that one or both of your insulin's has spoiled for some reason, other than that do as your DSN suggests and increase your basal until you see your bg levels stabilise.

Yes that's correct, it's always the first rule if you experience unexplained and prolonged high bg readings and can rule out things like sickness & illness.
