Been having a problem today, opening a couple of threads.
As soon as the page opens, it closes my browser down.
Only a couple of threads.
Not sure if it is my ipad, or the forum, but it hasn't happened on any other website, all day.

Wondered if anyone else is having the same problem?

Can't give a link to the threads because i can't open them.

I had that earlier today and blamed my lad who was downloading a game at the time. Maybe it was the forum after all. Oops!

Didn't see this happening, but I did have some issues with forum being very slow and not responding at times. Other sites were OK.

I am having something slightly different today. I was responding to a particular thread, then all of a sudden when I tried to view the thread to answer an email alert, I was asked to log in. Message was ERROR you must log in to do that. I tried again later, and this time I got ERROR You do not have authorisation to view these pages. At first I thought I must have said something controversial and had gotten myself barred from the site, but other threads are working ok. I remember seeing this before, so it is not a new problem

One thing is that my PC has had an update to Win 8.1, and my AV software threw a wobbler and stopped all internet traffic except for 'known' whitesites. I had to uninstall my AV, enable Windows Firewall, then re-install the AV and switch Firewall back. My PC is better, but the mouse does funny things and is hyper sensitive.

EDIT: This problem is resolved. I am blocked.

Did the same thing this morning, different thread, The email alert was for a newly started thread that I have not been able to access at all. I think it may be due to moderators shifting threads to other subthreads that are more applicable. This has happened to me when i started a topic off as OP, but it got redirected to a different subthread. I got no warning of this, but did eventually find it when someone replied to it. @Administrator If this is what is causing it, then it is very annoying, and beginning to get up my nose.

@Oldvatr Can you remember what thread did that to you this morning, please?

The other thread you were referring to that came up with an error message was moved after Reports and concerns about it. When threads are moved they are no longer visible to members (otherwise it'd defeat the purpose of moving it!)

As for threads that are moved to a different forum, a redirect is left. That is, if a thread was in General Chat, for example, and was moved to Diabetes Discussions, then a thread link will still exist in the original place (General Chat) so anyone can click on that and should be redirected to the thread in its new home (Diabetes Discussions) and can read and reply as normal.

Can't give a link to the threads because i can't open them.

@Brunneria My iPad does that sometimes too, especially if I have a number of tabs open on it. I find the Diabetes UK site quite 'big' for my iPad so it sometimes disappears/reloads. I solve that by shutting some tabs. Not sure if that's the same issue you're having, but thought I'd mention it.

Obviously you can't link to the threads if you can't open them, but if you PM a mod with the title of the thread or anything else that can help us identify it, we can take a look and at least let you know if there's a general issue with the thread/site so you have a better idea of what's happening.

@azure The thread this morning was titled Controlling diabetes - treatment is effective and important - New thread in watched forum
It was in the Global community subthread apparently but I never got to it. I suspect it was withdrawn. But this is the second in this particular subthread that has given me problems this week.

I do not have problems with topics being moved or deleted, provided there is a proper warning. I had to search hi and lo inthe forum to find where one of my postings had gone to. Found it eventually, and was able to go back to the other posts where I had placed a reference in to show the new place where to find it. The redirect did not seem to work, although the arrow was displayed. In that case I had a following that were interested, and I could not be sure that they were being redirected ok.

In the case of the one that was actally removed, the ERROR messages did not give me the right information, and I was left dangling pondering about what permissions I was missing and why. It would have been better if the ERROR was thread not found.I did spend time searching the forum to see if it had been moved, but obviously now I know it was blocked.

I found one with a similar title, but not exactly that wording. That thread sounds like it could be spam. All spam is moved as quickly as possible and no link or trace left on the forum.

Yes I thought it sounded suspicious too, which was why I tried to access it. I have no problem with spam being removed, but elsewhere I have seen stuff deleted, and a posting stating Removed by Moderator added instead. This at least provides an explanation.

Most spam is eradicated by the forum software before it even gets through to the posting stage fortunately, and the mods clean up the rest. Many spam threads have advertising in their title, often with a name, so it would be unwise for the thread title to remain (even without the thread content). The 'deleted by a mod' is for posts rather than threads. Often a spammer will spam the forum with 12 or 15 threads in one go. If a notification was left in the place of the thread title, that could stop genuine, important threads being at the top of forums.

In an ideal world no spam would get through, but any that does is removed as soon as it's spotted so that members are protected from advertising and, often, malware hidden in links or on sites that are being advertised.

Hi there - can you send a screenshot of the link you're clicking on (if you can't click on the link)? It doesn't seem like something that should be happening, but we can't seem to see anything, either?

Spam threads are often removed, but those are usually obvious from the title.

So did the forum say 'Error: Page not found' but not direct you to the appropriate thread? That could be a forum issue, so if you can provide any links or any information, we'll certainly look into it.

We're currently in the process of implementing better load-balancing solutions.

Thanks to you and @azure for getting back to me.

One of the threads was 'Food and Exercise' by @Jessica120714

I click to open, the page loads (quite slowly), but then instead of fully opening, it shuts down Safari on my ipad. If i reopen it, the screen opens to the page i was on, before clicking on the thread link. It happens consistently. Have tried the link from Recent Post and my profile Content.

It has only happened with 2 threads, both starting on Saturday. No other threads affected.

At azure's suggestion i have tried with one, three and several tabs open, but it makes no difference.

Thank you. :)

I found that thread @Brunneria It opened ok for me on my iPad. I didn't keep it open for long, but I was able to scroll down.

How weird! I hope we find out what's causing it.
