Hi I was just wondering if anyone out there is on this diet. I have just started it on Monday and have lost 4lb already. My fasting bloods are down from 7.5 to 5.9 although they do fluctuate. I am finding it hard going as I'm craving bread especially in the mornings not too bad the rest of the day. If anyone else is doing this diet I would love to hear how you are getting on as I think I'm going to need a lot of support to do it for 8 weeks!

I'm going away for the weekend so I'm not sure how I'm going to cope with eating out!

Cheers

Hi All

Thanks for your replies. I have just finished week one on the 8 week blood sugar diet and I had my weigh in today. I have lost 6lb in a week which I'm pleased with and 1 inch off my waist. I know this sort of weight loss will not continue but it does give you a boost to continue with the diet. My blood sugars have definitely been better I'm now getting readings in the pre-diabetic range.:)

I was on a diet some time ago, and was eating at Wendy's every day,,the reason was they had the best salads. I stopped soda (including diet) and only drank water. I lost 26 Ibs in 6 weeks. (That was the name of the diet) Here's the thing though, I never changed my breakfast routine. I had 2 eggs and Whole wheat toast every morning. Yet I still lost all of that weight easily, and I never exercised during that time. I was climbing ladders at work I'm in construction) Point Im trying to make is if your away make smart choices do not give in to the fact your away, you will like yourself better by making those choices and the weight will fall off.

I started diet 3 weeks ago against the advice of my diabetes specialist, although she has agreed to monitor test my bloods etcetera in 8 weeks. I am type 2 on insulin and have lost 13 pounds which is fantastic. My glucose readings have dropped significantly and I have reduced the medication considerably. On a good day I have not required any insulin as readings between 5.4 -7.0. On a no insulin day it is great freedom not having to worry about typos. I have also noticed a reduction in blood pressure .On the down side ketosis is meant to be a problem and the change from poor control to good control may initially have a detrimental effect if you have retinopathy problems so I am told. But I am going to stick with it as at the moment t feel great

Thanks Lorraine. I lost 20 lbs on a low carb diet and my diabetes (T2) is now under control with my last A1C at 5.6. I wonder if 800 calories would leave you feeling starving all the time? And what kind of damage ketosis does? I had to up the carbs a bit because I was hungry too often.

I haven't felt hungry I am mainly following the suggested menu plan at the back of the book , I have been following the 5/2 diet only eating 800 calories two days a week and only ate in the evening each day , saving the calories for my main meal , I have lost two stone on this diet , but this alone hasn't brought my blood sugar , and blood pressure down enough , just got my BMI down to 29 , I always start my day with a glas of hot water with half a lemon squeezed into it , I think it help stave off hunger pains , the book recommends going onto 5/2 diet after the eight weeks to maintain the weight loss ,

Hi, I'm doing the 8 week, no more than 5g of Carbs in any 5 hour period and it's easy, just swop usual carbs for lots of vegs like leeks, kale, courgettes, etc.. see book called the Metabolism Miracle by Diane Kress. I've now lost 11lbs and feel much better.
