i've recently started pumping since dec but the pump im using has so many issues ect and i don't like the errors i am getting is it possible to swap it for a medtronic one or not?

Only your pump team could give you a definite answer.

I don't see why not......

My pump centre only offered two brands of pump with a heavy sway towards the medtronic model, but there was another, so if your clinic does even more than two I would think your in with a good chance...

definitely worth asking about....

yeh i went with roche because i could have it the next day, but i really want a medtronic so i can self fund the cgm :(

That's a good move - CGM, have you looked at costs.

From my experience the Dexcom is cheaper as the life of the sensor can be extended - I get 25+ days from each, I understand the Medtronic cannot be extended.

My calculations were done four years ago and it was clear to me then that Dexcom were the better cost option, with or without a linked pump.

I doubt you will be able to swop unless your ccg gets a full refund on the not fit for purpose pump you have. You should be allowed to have the combo rather than the Insight though.

However if the pumps on offer are an Insight and a Medtronic 640g, then Dexcom doesn't come into it.

i don't mind having the combo, im just so frustrated at the pump shutting down at 50% battery life, :(

@Type1Lad I'm on the Insight too - I'd read about the battery draining quite quickly once it starts to drain (even though it seems to stay at 100% for ages), and I start to get antsy about mine if it hits 85% because it seems to drop quickly after that - so after it's down to 85%, I change the battery when I next change the cartridge.

If yours is crashing a lot though, and the battery drains really quickly all the time, it sounds like they need to send you a replacement.

When it comes to remembering to charge my handset, though, that's another story - despite setting myself a regular alarm to remind me to do it, I've found myself a couple of times having to beg use of a plug socket when out and about!!!! LOL!

I change my Insight battery once a month and not had any issues, just like the combo that would run out anyway at just over a month. Though not tried to run it below 75% to be honest, we were asked to change it monthly so I do and for me all is fine.

The Insight handset gets charged once or twice a week when it shows about 75% - so far its been fine.

The Dexcom is not pump dependant - it does not matter what pump your on. If however you can choose the Vibe (with Dexcom option) then you don't need the Dexcom handset and the sensors are bit cheaper from Animas (seems for Type1 Lad this is not an option).

As mentioned above Tim2000 this is not a valid statement - Dexcom is not pump dependant ? for these two on offer.

the new medtronic has cgm built in, so it's much better :] it also has safeguard and highguard :].
other then that i do like the insight but the errors are annoying :)

If you can afford to pay for the sensors (which lots complain about) then you need to talk to your team, I'm not seeing any errors or issues with my Insight. Good luck and hope you get what you need.

Take a good look at the user feedback for the Medtronic CGM's ;-) but no reason why you shouldn't change to the pump as its getting lots of good reports (just a bit too big for me).
