Type 1 Blood sugars

Gosh, different CCGs work so differently. My last one offered them to all children under 12....as first choice.

Does the Nano calculate the bolus if you enter carbs? Does it calculate the correction amount if a reading is high?
I would personally ask for the aviva expert...

How has today been? Is there any difference from being at childminder on weekdays to being with you at weekends?

Thinking of you....
Hello there no the nano only takes the readings of the blood sugars thats all. Harry had another hypo on awakening this morning then reading have been slightly high but not that high. He certainly isnt himself he is very clingy and has runny nose and as white as casper the ghost. Defo brewing infection i think. Thankyou so much for replying means a lot @ donnellysdogs x

Hi again.

Sounds like your son may be coming down with something or may just be getting over ketones from higher levels......
Are you aware to test for ketones if above 12.0? Have you got a ketone meter or strips?

To get a pump its great if you can get a meter that will allow you to practice really.. Ie with carb bolus's, corrections etc..

I know my accucheck aviva expert meter is identical to my old accuchek combo pump meter...

I would first off ask for this (or a similar meter)....I'm not sure which other meters do the same. Some are like yours and pretty basic.

The reasoning behind my advice is: it would allow you to record the injections in the meter, if high it would tell you or childminder how much correction insulin to give your son. You would learn how to make tweaks to the settings in the meter to get better results.

If you got a meter like this it would also be a back up if your new pump ever broke...(providing you keep data up to date).

Is son having 2 basal injections a day or 1?

Oh forgot yes to basal corrections 4 units of levemir in morning and 1.5 bedtime. Xx

Very low dose at night.. Do you lower dose if your son goes low for two nights in a row?

What hypo stopper does son have during night?

What does your son eat for breakfast?

Just trying to establish whether your son is
A) having dawn phenomenon
B) waking phenomenon
C) rebound from hypo
D) not enough bolus

How many sleeping hypo's are you currently having to treat per week?

Sorry to ask so many questions.

It is very hard for a youngster... It is so hard for them. Having to have injections all the time is not easy.....xx
