Type 2 Life

Thanks. I am still feeling very ill. I am sleeping a lot. Slept from 8pm to 8am then drifted back to sleep as I was still so sleepy and went back to sleep until 4pm. That's 20 hours kip and was starting to get groggy again by 10pm after 6 hours awake. It's been like this daily for a while, most of my life snoozing. There is obviously something wrong, that's existing and not living. I still have to be patient. I want to go back to bed so badly and I only want my normal routine back. Good night.

@eddie1968, have you had tests for all the usual suspects, eg iron, thyroid etc? I had mild anaemia a few years ago and was soooo tired. Not as tired as ypu sound though. I really hope your GP gets it sorted.

Hello! I though I'd join this forum, I like a good chat :D I know most of you from the "what was you bg this morning" forum.
I'm a golfer (I do archery too). Yesterday, I didn't do too bad score wise, better than other rounds. Unfortunately, I caught my foot in the long grass, toppled over and hurt my knee and lower back not too badly. I struggled to get up as I have broken my knees in the past and arthritis has now set in. I was not a pretty sight with my legs up in the air and couldn't stop laughing :D. My husband managed to get me up and I continued like nothing had happened :smug: Golf is a risky game :joyful:

Yes, I get monthly blood checks due to meds I am on that can cause hyperkalaemia (too much potassium in blood) and that can cause abnormal heart rhythms or cardiac arrest so I am well monitored bloods wise. I have seen a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and had an overnight sleep study done in hospital two weeks ago and I might have sleep apnoea. The results can take up to 6 weeks, its a lot of data. The only abnormal bloods I have (and urine tests) are for kidney function as I have Diabetic Nephropathy (kidney disease) due to high sugars over the years and kidney problems can cause fatigue. Anyway FBG of 5.5 today. :)

Hi @mo53 and are you feeling better today? Will get results a week this Thursday, as I am at the Hospital to discuss about injections having for this Arthritis mostly in my spine.( have got it in other joints also) it was a "multiple' blood test form as GP requested Ferritin Levels (Iron) and Cholesterol, Hospital requested HBA1C, LFT, Antinuclear Antibodies and Rheumatoid Factor. Anyway, remember your blood sugar levels will increase with illness, so don't beat yourself up if they raise. Just drink plenty of fluids and if you don't feel hungry try soup. Its raining, grey and miserable here today in York - probably the same at the coast where you are too? Look after yourself:). Have missed our quick fire games on a night. Get Better SOON.:cat:

Hello @KimG - Good that you have joined us.:). But you are feeling OK today after your 'tumble' yesterday?

@liam1955 don't worry, generally if your bloods are showing major abnormalities your GP practice or the hospital will phone you and want to see you asap. No news is good news most of the time lol. :)

I've actually felt crappier since my sugar control has got better, isn't that ironic lol ?:p

@eddie1968 - Hi, - I'm not worried - what will be, will be and I will deal with the outcome! You are getting your results today? Let us know how you get on. And hope that they can begin treatment straight away, to get you back into the land of the living again. Oh, it's stopped raining and the Sun is trying to come out = Yippee:)

My GP wants to see me again from last week, no update from hospital. I've faced serious and life threatening illness twice in the last 7 years. Been a prolonged patient in ICU twice. I've had more than half my colon removed due to gangrene, had a colostomy bag for 3 years (now removed). :)

Oh, sorry to hear about that, and you are only young too! And here is me only having a "whinge" last night and saying: 'it's been all down hill since I hit 43 years' !!!

@13lizanne got out visiting. @mo53 is poorly. It's round about now I start to feel hungry - (cannot face food on a morning) going to have a light lunch.:)
I have the same "not hungry" in the morning phenomenon and before I was diabetic I was ravenous on waking. Weird ? :)

Toughens ya up William lol. I had a ruptured bowel in 2009, they removed a section of bowel and stitched it up. Five days later the stitches came apart and I developed sepsis and gangrene, another surgery was carried out.

Before I was diabetic - I lived on gallons of black coffee ALL DAY and only ate food at 6 pm and I weighed 9stone. Now I can only "DREAM' about being 9 stone!! I must go and eat - could chat all day:)

I am losing weight since being on insulin (bucking the trend). I weighed 16st odd and now weigh 13 st 8 lbs. :)

Yes, had some fish fingers for lunch. Big cuppa black coffee too to keep me fresh as I need to leave for the docs at 2.40pm. I have also been drinking the odd can of diet Red Bull as a stimulant to stop me dozing off. I hate drinking them, not a fan of fizzy juice.

@eddie1968 - what weight do you want to be? I have just got another 10lbs to lose and that will be the 2 stone that I was asked to lose when last saw Diabetes Consultant at the Hospital in November 2015. 6 years ago I was 10stone - (and had Diabetes 10 years and during that time only put on a stone) - but went through a traumatic time and My attitude was "sod it I am sick of this Diabetes lark", and so I just gave up and ate what I wanted, and didn't take my Metformin. And so, the weight began creeping on.
