Type 2 Life

Hello @mo53 and Well Done You.:) I am so pleased for you, so is that your new daily aim from now on? How do you feel in yourself? Missed Greer Garson yesterday - R's fault too!!!

@kjc2011 - Try not to go too long between meals, I am on Insulin and Metformin and I aim to eat every 6 hours, although much smaller meals. Blood Sugars can and do drop very quick when on Insulin and other diabetic tablets. Enjoy your lunch.:)

Thank you I'm lucky if I can last 4 hours between a meal I had fresh strawberries and natural yoghurt for brekkie at around 8:30 and then around 12:45 started feeling weak and feeling shaky the effect of eating my lunch was almost instant and beginning to feel much better now thank you. Is it normal to get the shakes and feel really weak on my kind of reading of 4.8?

@kjc2011 - Have re-read your posting = 4.8 - hmm, it's normally around 4.0, I start to get the hypo symptoms round about 3.8. - but, everyone of us is different. :)

@kjc2011 - Whenever out in public you ought to think about carrying something just in case you start to go Hypo. I have a packet of Raspberry flavour glucose tablets and a Museli bar. Others carry Jelly Babies, Wine Gums, Lucozade, small cartons of pure Orange Juice - just something to raise your sugar level and then go and have a Sandwich or your next meal.:)

I was never given any information like this when I started on gliclazide was just given the tablets and that was it was never given testing strips until last week. I know they don't give testing strips to non insulin but it seems with my type of medication I should have been as soon as I was prescribed the gliclazide. I feel that I have learnt so much more from you all on this forum than my own doctor or nurse. Off for a nice walk now the sun is out and shining here in sunny salord ☺ enjoy the rest of your day x

Good job I'm thick skinned.
I must admit I'm very unhappy. I WAS enjoying posters on fbg. I feel like my arm has been chopped off. Maybe that was the intention. :(
Partner thinks I should close my account down. I was so enjoying everyone's input. It felt a happy place. Newies felt comfortable posting even high fbg/bgs. A human thread not just a posters avatar and a number.
It's very sad!
I thought I belonged.

That's interesting, I was wondering that too. In my view, a list of numbers without any context is meaningless and unhelpful. Posting "5.2" means nothing, whereas "5.2 today, down from my usual 7+. I've noticed that when i eat cheese in the evening I always have a lower reading the next morning" is potentially useful to others who could then try that out for themselves.

When I first discovered this forum a few weeks ago I think I asked quite a few questions on that thread, and some very kind people told me about dawn phenomenon, liver dumps etc. I found that invaluable. I didn't know that I was supposed to start a new thread to ask those sorts of questions - it's very difficult for newbies to know what's allowed or not allowed. I mean, I knew I shouldn't ask questions sbout, say, exercise on it but I genuinely thought questions/comments associated with FBG were allowed.
They are! It's all the other stuff that's not allowed. The mods post made that quite clear.

Tested my bloods feeling very weak and shaky reading 4.8 is this a normal feeling with this reading as it's low but didn't think was low enough to class as hypo
We are all different, some people can't go below five without feeling ill, looks like you may be one of them x

If you look on Greetings and Introductions Forum you will see a thread called Ethos and Forum Rules- by Givenchy. I've had another read of it and it's very useful for understanding what happened on fbg thread. I think everyone got so cosy that we forgot that this isn't a social media site?

@ickihun - But You do belong Vicky, You are one of a few people who is very knowledgeable and I for one look up to you with a lot of respect. Please don't shut down/ leave us. We, us on here just have to direct questions and queries over to this thread. Already someone has left - he put it on fbs thread this morning. William x

@kjc2011 - A lot of GP's know little about Diabetes - I am lucky as my GP is up to date with it. It used to be that everyone diagnosed with Diabetes was issued with a meter, but due to cutbacks they don't. And so, when 'newbies' join the Forum we suggest that they invest in a Blood Sugar meter as it is in my eyes the most important and vital piece of equipment for a Diabetic. Hope you enjoyed your walk. No matter how minor you may think, if you have questions to ask just ask! We have all been there at the beginning and there is loads of people on here who are very knowledgeable, someone will always answer. (or you'll get several answers probably).:)

I know. I was trying to turn him onto posting here and it got deleted. I don't hide and whisper behind people's backs. I'm a honest person who is genuinely wanted to help.
Very disillusioned with the whole forum. Not sure I'll feel the same again. I feel stabbed in the back!
One very unhappy busy mum today. Just wanted to drop this message as I have family staying and probables won't get a chance at a later date.
These threads run very quickly and at times I'm not sure what people are talking about unless I do back a few days to catch up.
Maybe I should just concentrate on my guests today. Let my raw feelings settle down.
I've never liked tell tales and someone has been moaning about people posting when the forum is for everyone! Or so I thought.

Hi, I'm not giving advice just saying how I am as we are all different. I'm type 2, I take metformin & gliclazide, if I get to 5 then usually I'm shaking, wobbly ect, I find I need to eat usually every 4 hours, occasionaly I can go bit longer but often need to eat couple nuts or small piece fruite or cheese in between , some people can go below 5, but not me, you will learn to to recognise the warning signs, I get bit shaky, hungry, but we are all different, so good luck and take care, this forum has really helped me, kind people, so welcome and good health
