Hello,

I have just done a test and I'm pregnant!! About 5 weeks I think!! Can't believe it has happened so soon!! Only been off contraception 6 weeks!! Especially as I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries before I had my son!!

Anyway, I have literally done the test today, I was away last week and wasn't as well behaved as I normally would be... Who can resist a pain of chocolat what on France!!! And to be honest everything on offer was very short acting, there was nothing of any long lasting substance really?
My sugars were good most of the time, but my pod came out on the journey there and on the way back!! Being knocked whilst travelling!

I had highs after breakfast, but they didn't last long, they had come down 2.5 hours after, just caused a bit of a spike (14-16mmol but then dropped pretty sharpish after).I normally have porridge which keeps me very steady!!

I had my suspicions I may have been pregnant, but honestly didn't think it would happen so soon and now I'm a little bit worrried about baby!!! I saw my doctor last week and she said that because my hba1c is well controlled (6.6%) that if I'm a little high a couple of days while away not to worry. I told her and my dsn nurse that I had my suspicions about being pregnant and they said not to think about a test till I got back!!

I wish I had done a test before hand!! Just can't believe it!!!

Yeyyyyy!!! Congratulations Hun!

Don't stress about the highs just correct ASAP and you will be fine, obviously avoid them when you can but they do happen and it's not the end of the world :)

You will probably get a few more random highs at this stage so just keep close check on your bgs cos that will soon change to random lows lol

Obviously give your DSN a call on Monday to let her know your good news so you can get booked in to be seen

Abbie xx

Thank you!! Just having a little panic! As if it was just me to worry about id take them on the chin, the pain of chocolat was worth it, but I've someone else to think of now too!!
Yep, I will give her a ring first thing on monday! She will be so excited!!
Guess I won't be needing the preconception clinic after all!!

  • Congratulations. . It sounds like you are in a good place with your BG. Make an appointment to see your specialist diabetes maternity team asap and they will be able to advise you about safe targets for pregnancy. Nice recommend a fasting of less than 5.5 but less than 6 is reasonable. You will also need to test one hour post-meal and the target is less than 7.8. And most of all enjoy your pregnancy xx

Thank you @Finley02!

I seem to be struggling with post meals bg, I'm fine before meals and 2 hours post is usually around 8... How to I tighten to one hour being 7.8 without hypoing?

Any advice gratefully received, lovely ladies! First pregnancy using a pump...

Hiya I found that I sometimes had to snack 5-10cho to stop hypos. Like @Mrsass says inject 20mins before. I did find my ratios changed quite a bit and was forever adjusting my pump basal xx
