hello

can you tell me please the carbs and calories of 1 chip / french fry?
I understand that 1 chip of McDonald's is different to 1 chip from Fish'n'Chips shop, as it's much thinner.
I would like data for the biggest possible chip.
I can't find any.

Also, I would like the same for crips and tortilla crips.
It will be that way much easier and accurate to track my calories and carbs.

Thanks!

@greener The crisps and tortilla chips will be on the packet. If you take the per 100g figure, you can then work out the carbs in the weight you're eating.

If you mean oven chips, again the info is on the bag. McDonald's have nutritional info online.

When I was diagnosed, I was told 5 small chips had approx 10g carbs, but it'll depend what size chips you're eating.

Buy some, find the biggest one, weigh it, then go to calorieking.com and use their database to figure it out.

I believe what you mean is "thank you for taking the time to answer my question, however I am particularly interested in the g of carbs in a single French fry"

When you put the search term "carbs in French fries" in google, the first result says it is 41g/100g therefore 0.41g of carb per gram of French fry. Put the French fry on the weighing scale, it will say it weighs Xg, X x 0.41 = the number of grams in your French fry.

No it won't.

I understand what you're trying to accomplish, but please understand that the replies you have received so far are the most accurate answers you can get.

Your question is the equivalent of asking "How much does a dog weigh?" It's impossible to answer that question with accuracy as there are big/small dogs, tall/short dogs, and fat/skinny dogs.

Now if you had asked how many grams of carbs in a French fry that weighs for example 5 grams we could give you an almost definitive answer.

And you mentioned chips too.

As I said, most places like McDonald's have nutritional information in their branches or online. If you're only going to,eat a small number of fries, the you'd have to do some Maths, but you'd get a pretty accurate estimate.

with respect is your plan to eat 1 chip or french fry or 1 tortilla or 1 crisp as a portion?
because if it is not the query becomes irrelevant and costly due to waste
Instead weighing the portion and knowing the amount of carbs per 100 grams is the most reliable way I have found to measure what I eat.

However to answer your question as asked

the following as a reasonable guideline

1 chip ( approx 14 grams ) 4.36 carbs
1 french fry ( approx 6 grams ) 1.9 carbs
1 tortilla chip ( approx 2 grams ) 1.4 carbs
1 crisp( walkers approx 1.3 grams ) .85 carb

Greener, is carb counting to that degree of accuracy really necessary for you? Personally, I would find that degree of record keeping to be exhausting and likely to make me go off-piste with the whole thing.

what chip is 14 grams really? and isn't chip and french fry the same thing? I am fed up with these terminology issues

I suggest you buy either the book or app called Carbs & Cals. They pretty much have every food known to man broken down into carbs, cals, protein, fat, fibre and sat fat.

Should keep you amused for hours...................
