Type 2 Life

So I was in the 5's when I woke up, gone up to 6.7 now. Wondering if last nights carb fest is having a kick in now. Good protein based breakfast so will monitor today - sure it's only a little blip. Also off for a hike around the campsite ... the sea is just too cold for swimming

Lesson I leaned this weekend: politeness will make you fat.
Like, being the polite guest I am, I couldn't hurt my hostesses feelings after she pointed out that because she knew I was on a low-carb eating plan she made me a cheese cake - with no sugars added. Wow! Um.. Except it was sweetened with white chocolate, and of course had a digestive biscuit base. I didn't have the heart to tell her that it wasn't even close to being a low carb cheese cake (she also used low-fat quark and sour cream in it to make it "healthier" for me!) so... Sigh... I ate a slice. And I'm up 2.8 lbs this morning - and feel a little hung over, even though I had no alcohol.
I also discovered that my body does NOT like raw veg. At all. Digestive screech to a halt protest. So I think it is back to rib eye and steamed broccoli for me. And hopefully I can... Erm... GO again soon...

My body used to be so easy. :shifty:

Is the north atlantic ever warm enough for swimming? (Asking because I've never been, but I always imagined it to be a cold thing... )

If in doubt about a possible delayed carb effect. Nibble cheese in bed after taking your fbg before you get up. It suppresses the liver dump. Liver dump from stored up glucose. Especially if it's going to be an hour before breakfast. This technique keeps your hba1c result down. I often forget to do it but it's just what metformin does chemically.
I often forget because I'm getting old. Ha ha

How's the sinus infection today @eddie1968 ?
Think it's toothache @13lizanne and the dentist is closed for the Bank Holiday. Going to get an emergency appointment tomorrow. Tried everything to ease the sinus but methinks a tooth is causing the pain. Bummer. :(

Tough one eh? We accepted dinner invitation last night from people on the next pitch at our campsite, I had to be really strict when they asked us and said I didn't eat carbs but the chaps had still prepared a carb heavy meal :( I took a small portion - and ate slowly so it didn't look like I was not eating.

Just started reading this book I bought last week from Diabetes.co.UK website. Think is going be the best tenner I've spent in a while. Only read the preface so far and he's singing from the low carb song sheet (I did know that when I bought it) in an easily understandable way.
@autisticwonder1970, hope I've got that right and I've tagged you Johnny, I think, from what I've read so far , this could be a good buy for you

Oh! Poor you, toothache is the pits. Hope you can get it sorted tomorrow

Some folks don't seem to understand what carbs, proteins etc actually are. My daughter is trying to follow low carb diet so I lent her my GI/GL carbs book cos she finds carbs other than bread & spuds hard to identify

Hi all got Ron a walking stick today and hes getting around a lot better even on the stairs .

Absolutely! @PenfoldAPD it's the law- you have to sample the local wine, preferably from a semi-prone position under the sun :) Enjoy!

Ok if you insist :)) my BG was 4.3 just before pre dinner snacks so I seem to have maintained control and can relax tonight - just opened another bottle of the wine to support local industry. Local meat and veg for dinner, eaten al fresco of course ;) although cloudy skies and storms due later so we might have to stay an extra day ... small planes don't like lighting! (And neither do I!)

Not that I'm jealous or anything- but this happens to coincide with my alcohol free week ( I do one TT week each month) I'm so sorry that you have to stay on for an extra day:
;)
