I'm getting a bit cross with Dr Trudi Deakin

You can only interpret High Fat to a certain point after which it stops being high fat. Generally I'd say HF sits around 75-80%.

Cream is nice but also rather high in carbs. I try to limit cream but go for butter, olive oil, coconut oil and duck fat when I can get it. And I know it can take time for some to get used to a high fat diet but if you take your time you'll see the benefit.

Exactly! That is why I can't do HF so instead use Enough Fat. I really envy those of you who can do high fat. I tried it for three weeks, but gained over a stone, felt very ill, had abdominal problems, and pain in joints. People on forum described this as carb flu. I could not continue.

However, it has been very helpful to know that full fat foods (yogurt , butter, cream etc) are not bad foods as HCPs would have us believe. Also that the low fat products promoted are a factor in the obesity and diabetes increase we are seeing.

I think it us sufficient to say that lower carbs is good and that this will necessitate in more fat intake. However...

And I am going to really shout this now...

WE ARE ALL INDIVIDUALS AND HAVE TO FIND OUR OWN BALANCE OF NUTRITIONAL NEEDS TO LOSE WEIGHT OR BALANCE IT.

One size does NOT fit all...!!

So no more threads about diet?

Naah.. Just that we have to find iur own individual needs and foods etc.. I low carbed pretty much all life.. And 100% behind it.

I didn't even realise until this year from this forum that I am a low carber!

Just that sometimes I think we all need to just consider that we all still have variations according to our lifestyles. I think this gets missed sometimes. Not wishing to halt the post at all but think we still need to realise that some people have sedentary lifestyles some have very active ones... Etc etc. sometimes our individuality gets missed....

@SueMG I notice you don't have diabetes. Maybe your viewpoint would change if you did. Many of us see LCHF as a good way to control a serious condition without the need (or with a lesser need) for drugs. Some of the problems on the side effects list were ones I had before LCHF and which have now been alleviated by LCHF.

Well, where do I start?

When we are given a new medication, we are supposed to read the little slip of paper inside the box. It lists all the contraindications commonly experienced. By commonly, we are talking about minorities, usually low %s.

We should all read the paper. Do we? Nope. And when we experience side effects and contraindications, what do we do?
We stop taking the tablets.

Problem solved 99+% of the time.

Can you see the comparison I am drawing?

Having tried MANY diets and ways of eating before finding VeryLow Carb/Ketogenic eating, I can say with absolute certainty that Low Carb is more pleasant, more sustainable, more enjoyable and has fewer unpleasant contraindications than anything else I have tried. It has also made me healthier.

Quite an accolade.

Then you can add in that most people eat low carb, not keto (the article referenced by @SueMG is specifically about Keto), and you can see why I consider that article to be a piece of melodramatic blogging, probably intended to increase readership, with no actual concern for the many people (lots of whom frequent this forum) who find low carbing to be the best, easiest and most convenient way to avoid the unpleasant consequences of raised blood glucose - neuropathy, blindness, amputation, kidney failure and yes, you've guessed it death.
