Heaven Or Hell?....my FIRST 4 Day Fast

Good luck ..... I don't know how you can do this fasting for such a period

How are you feeling?

Feeling good. Did the full morning run, bullet proof coffee, gong to do the lawns next. From everything I've read, just carry on as normal. 7pm tonight will be that 48 hour mark....will be interesting:)

Give it a go.. you don't know what you can achieve until you try it.. although you might need to watch your meds obviously..
Perhaps I will try fasting once I am off the Glic .... :)

Are you seriously hungry? I'm sure I would be - although I know there are many fasting heros out there!

Well I thought I would be...but....I'm really not!

Do t know why...the end is proving easier than the beginning. I am not sure whether it's a from I action of mind set or the fat burning fuel from Ketosis, but it's remarkable.

My only concern (and I accept that other ppl may never have this issue), is that I have problems getting to sleep when hungry.
It is a cyclical little process where I notice I am hungry, worrit about going to sleep, get stressed, focus on the hunger, worrit I won't sleep, get stressed...

I can keep myself awake for hours like this - all the while fully aware that it is probably all in my head.

So I think the biggest barrier for me, as I gradually increase fasting times, is getting past that bedtime hunger.
Doesn't being in ketosis prevent you from feeling hungry? It did for me.

Kevin, I'm impressed.

Are you also recording your ketone levels as well as all else?

So early morning of day 4:

10 hours 5.3 - BP 116/68, BPM 66

24 hours 4.8 - BP 119/66, BPM 68

35 hours (6AM) 5.3 - BP 116/67, BPM 62

48 hours - 4.8 - BP 118/77

64 hours - 4.4 - BP 115/69, BPM 66

71 hours - 4.6 - BP 116/73, BPM 60

83 hours - 4.4 - BP 114/68, BPM 64 - keystones using sticks based on colour looks like 4, which is high, but it's hard to match the colours and the sticks are notoriously inaccurate, but defo real Ketosis.

I feel really good and will easily make it to 96 hours (4 days) at 7pm tonight. I'm convinced by Jason Fung's contention that 7 days is perfectly possible with a ketogenic LCHF diet:)

When fasting, my hunger comes in waves. Some quite intense - as described above, a wave at 11pm is going to keep me awake. And stressed.

No, as I find comparing the colour shades quite difficult, but Ive done it this morning...it was second from the darkest;) about 4.0 from my best guess.

That would really put me off. I usually find that after the second day I feel no hunger at all.

Very well done sir.. and some great results too..

BOOM!! 4 day (96 hour) fast completed.

7pm BG 4.1, BP 118/68, BPM 67

Remarkably straightforward and could pretty easily do this one again.

Not sure what I gained in terms of BG stability. A big effort to drop my BG 1.4 mmol, but convinced fat as fuel makes eating less a lot more achievable.

Going to research and consider a 7 day fast in about a month...would be a real test, so just thinking it through:)

Dinner tonight at 7pm, salmon with seeds, OPPO ice cream with a few strawbs and bluebs....felt like a bit too much...so need to gradually reacclimatise tomorrow:)
