Regular moderate exercise log

Busy week (fitness wise) this week

Monday 10,624 steps and 45 mins at the gym (new programme)
Tuesday 9,300 steps and 40 mins at the gym
Wednesday 8,500 steps and 45 mins aquacise

I ache !!! :D

Rest day tomorrow ... only walking

Back from an incredibly active (for me) holiday (my Libre sensor has got so hot/sweaty/chlorinated/covered in sunblock over the last week that it had to be gaffer-taped (not joking - it was the only thing we had available at the time) on Tuesday to make sure it didn't continue peeling off its sticky pad on my arm. It expires tomorrow so let's see what state my (itchy) arm is in when I try to peel off the tape!

Since I last checked in on this thread I've had a 30-length swim in a hotel pool, a 3km run/walk to, along and back from a beach, and.... PARKRUN! Home turf this time - my local one, which I was running for the first time - and it was flat all the way round (not like last week's effort, which was hugely challenging). 5km in exactly 33 minutes. AND I RAN ALL THE WAY - even managing a sprint finish - my legs didn't seem to be my own (in a good way!). All that tramping up and down hills every day on holiday has obviously made a huge difference.

Gutted that I'm missing the next two weeks of Parkrun due to other commitments - but I'm really looking forward to next time!

Happy Snapsy!

:happy::happy::happy:

Had a lovely bike ride today, taking in canal towpaths, country parks, suburban roads, the busiest bus route in Britain and back via the lovely Media City and the Manchester Ship Canal, 24 miles in all and did not feel tired at any point. All the time on the exercise bike and the LCHF diet is paying off.

Heavy duty post-holiday gardening. Hypo, glucose, reduced temp basal, more gardening.

Just sharing a can of Hobgoblin ale with Mr S in celebration of cut grass and trimmed hedges. The 6pm sundowner happens an hour earlier at weekends....

;)

Back to normal exercise routine now I'm home from hols - 30 lengths this morning. We both went (unusual!) - I'm glad this moderate exercise lark is rubbing off on Mr S!

Running tomorrow. Toying with the notion of an outside route, but I think I'll attempt 5k without stopping on the treadmill at the gym, given all the puddles in the great outdoors...

Have a great day, all! Torrential rain here today, so I'm glad we managed to reclaim the garden yesterday...

:)

Today I ran 3.45km on the treadmill without stopping! That was both preceded and followed by 7 minutes walking - a total of 37 minutes, of which 23 minutes were running.

And I feel something has changed. Okay, I might be overthinking this, but I'm not a 'finisher'. I don't get my head down and work at something until it's finished. I stop when I feel I can't do any more. I get disheartened, and I stop. This goes for everything from ironing to work projects and everything in between. I'm a perfectionist, and would rather STOP before something goes wrong, or not start in the first place, rather than not achieve something to my satisfaction. And yes, I'm afraid I need my numbers to be perfect, in terms of my diabetes.

But since I started running - in particular with a view to the two parkruns I've done - I've wanted to NOT stop. To carry on. And this newly-discovered 'I can do it' attitude has so far this week resulted in a fabulous first day back at work after my holiday, an unanticipated last-minute challenging work commission being completed to above and beyond the satisfaction of my client (and me), AND all the ironing done.

Sorry for the verbal diarrhoea, but I wanted to just share the additional benefits of exercise that I'm discovering!

:)

LOL - just noticed my post of yesterday in which I said I wanted to run 5km! Regardless, I'm ever so happy with my 3.45km (added together with the walking etc I covered a total of 4.88km, so that's nearly there, hmmm..?).

;)

The weather. It has played havoc with my walking!

Then, when it stops raining, I have to divert time and attention to the wilderness known as my garden meaning less proper walking. I am intrigued, though. My stamina levels are so vastly improved from last summer. I've been cutting back a hedge which really took it out of me last year, but seemed very easy this year.

Hopefully after the weekend, normal walking routines will be resumed. I've a 700 mile target to hit by 5th July...

Hedge cutting and gardening still count, though! And great news re stamina!

:)
That's what I keep telling myself! I was so gobsmacked by the stamina thing I celebrated in a most uncharacteristic fashion which I am off to collect soon.

40 lengths this morning.

Yesterday I posted my entry to the local 5k race.

Tonight I'm going to my local running club for the first time.

Ulp.

:)

8000 steps yesterday including my mile run. Run done this morning, gym this afternoon longer session as I am missing it Fri and next Mon being away for the weekend having fun:)

25,100 walk in Sunday. My best since I started recording, but I got a nasty blister for my trouble:)

Averaging about 6,500 of which 1600 meters is at a fast pace, running with my heart rate at 140bpm, first thing, when not injured, so that I kick my body into fat burning mode:)

Wow, @KevinPotts , that 25,100 is massive! Really sorry to hear about the blister, though - do take very, very good care of it. Hope it heals up without presenting any problems.

I don't measure steps. I think on a day without running I would be shocked by the low number of steps I take - I have a very sit-downy job, and although I walk to and from my place of work, it's only a couple of minutes away from home!

I agree, without running, I get shocked by how sedentary life can be:)

Tonight I'm going to my local running club for the first time.
Excuses, excuses..... it's absolutely chucking it down, thunder and lightning, the whole works, the bottom part of town is flooded, and my mother-in-law has reminded my husband that we met exactly ten years ago.

Not going to running club! Staying close to home so that I can be dragged out (kicking and screaming, natch) for a drink instead.

My bad...... ;)

The rain stopped, and the sun came out! So I DID go - and ran 5.53km with a lovely gang of people - enjoyed every minute. I think (once the adrenaline's subsided) I'll sleep well tonight.

:)

I've been away for a few months but I've been getting back into the swing of things again lately. I walked 12,000+ steps today.

So I guess it's normal, to have times of good exercise and no exercise. I am really struggling to do it at the moment, and it is very frustrating and a bit scary.

I wish there was a way to figure this out.

Yep, that's me too. But over a lifetime those spurts of exercise add up.
