Type 2 Life

Morning folks. FBG 6.2 mmol/l. Sort of sunny but chilly for July outside. Really enjoying not having to do the usual rush around in the morning and taking my time doing stuff. Still in pyjamas and going to do insulin and have a monster grill up with some potato scones fried in butter (can't eat them any other way). Going to have a think about today's agenda for an hour or two. I fancied going to Edinburgh or Stirling today but if it starts raining then I'm not. :)

Hello, I hope you're all well. I've been away for a while.

12 weeks ago, my mother became ill with brain cancer, unfortunately she died at the end of May. It's taken a lot out of me. During that time, I had to have another breast biopsy, which is clear this time :). However, the allergy tests I have had showed that I was allergic to more than I thought, an epipen is being considered. I also need operations on my knee and shoulder (not at the same time - I need crutches, so the shoulder with be second) as I have bad arthritis in both knees and shoulders. I have had a bad bout of Laryngitis the last 10 days (some say it's good news :joyful:). I'm hoping there is something nice to look forward to for a change.

My diet has been appalling. I have put on 7lbs (3.6 kilos) in 12 weeks, and my bg had rocketed up from the 5's to around the 14's :(. I am back on Metformin twice a day. I have my annual diabetes check in August. I'm not looking forward to the results of my HbA1c results then. Today, I have started back on LCHF.
It is lovely to have you back!
My fbg knew you were coming so showed me a 14.4 this morning. lol
I didnt take my insulin last night in fear of a hypo since starting back on metformin. My mistake is i should have stuck with my reduced level but got side tracked and went to bed shattered (now realising i was high).
I knew id be having a time of uncertain fbgs but im not surprised at my 14 since i had 4 slices of white bread yesterday lunchtime.
The metformin 500mg XL is working for me. Im still only on one for lunch and one with dinner and on thursday i have to double up.
Oh its all fun and games.
Welcome back to the mad house ! :wacky::wacky::wacky:

Getting soaked kinda takes the fun out of fun things though....

@ickihun thanks. Yeah I do need to treat myself. I'm really not that motivated on material possessions though. The last big personal purchase was my iPad Pro 12.9" 128 GB + Apple keyboard + Apple Pencil which totalled in at around a grand. I really am overjoyed with it and it gets used a lot. The rest of my life is not lacking, my house has nice furniture, appliances and my wardrobes are jammed packed after years of compulsive clothes buying lol. I could spend hours internet shopping but I'm usually stuck on what to buy ! I do not over shop anymore, hate clutter and do not like wasting money. Simple and usually free or low cost stuff entertains me - easily pleased. :)

Today is my official birthday, 5th July. If the queen can have one then so can I lol :D

Welcome back @KimG to your friends on the Forum. Lovely to see your smiley face :)

I think what you said is important to people in life. I really do have 99% of what I want out of life, just a nice lady to share it with before I become old n grumpy lol. If you are easily satisfied and and don't overextend your goals you can have a content life @13lizanne :)

Hi KimG

You've had a bad 12 weeks...don't beat yourself up. As well as coping with your mother's death you were coping with tests to see if you too had the same nasty disease. On top of that you've got serious pain with your arthritis (which no doubt severely limits your mobility.
Don't worry about your HbA1C, if it's the end of August you'll have got two out of the three months that covers back on LCHF.. and when you do discuss the results make sure you mention the last 3 months cos as well as veering away from your diet stress can have contributed to high sugar levels.
