hello! my name is danielle im 16 and have had t1d since i was 10.. but I'm still new to the pump. I had been on MDI for the past few years up until last month. Does anyone have any different kinds of places to have your infusion sets? i love my theighs and hips.. it would be interesting to hear how other places worked well or didn't work for you! thanks! :)

Hi @curtis.danielle
welcome to the forum.:)
I have been pumping for 10 months ( diabetic for 44 years ) and so far my favourite places are around my upper arm
here is my pod I just put on about 30 minutes ago

i also like my upper stomach , and around the back of my hips -- but only tried an upper leg once and i did not get good absorption there.

tagging a few pumping friends to come along and say hello

Hey @curtis.danielle Welcome to the forum :)

Sorry i'm not very creative with my infusion sets, it just get's rotated around my lower chest and tummy, as I have a cannula set connected on my pump I like to keep it close to my pump which I have in a pouch around my tum.

What pump are you using ?

Hi Danielle,

I use my stomach, sides & arms, not tried bum or lower back but did try my legs but had issues with the infusion (not sure why).

Hi @curtis.danielle , and thanks @himtoo for the tag!

I'm a newish pumper and started with my tummy as my cannula site - I found though that certain areas were bad news thanks to scar tissue from 29 years of jabs! Also, on my tummy I found that the plaster would lose its stickiness very quickly (due I think to how I stand in the shower, of all things!).

So I now put my cannula in my lower back - specifically on my spare tyre, not to close to my spine (bit too bony to be comfy!), so fairly close to a hip, I'd say. It's brilliant - out of the way, good absorption, problems are rare.

Not yet tried anywhere else - but I'm due a cannula change today, so I'm kind of thinking I could try somewhere else, having been inspired by this thread!

Like @Juicyj I wear my pump around my body, in my case mostly round my chest or sometimes round my hips. I think that's why I haven't tried any other areas.

:)

Hiya @curtis.danielle ive only been on the pump about a month so haven't been that creative with sites as yet.

So I use my stomach and ribs, but I do prefer it higher up so as not to get in the way with waist band - so there is all of your tummy and then round the side your love handle/ribs area works well for me (might be only me who has love handles lol)

I've not tried my back yet because I'm doing lots of sit ups at the moment & it would get in the way! But I will give it a try - anywhere not too bony underneath your bra strap could work.

I find my thighs work pretty well - I've just used upper thighs. I didn't have any problem with absorption when I was using my legs.

But, just to show we are all different, I wasn't convinced using my arm worked well for me for absorption.

Only way to know is to try out an area and see if it works for you :)

I know I really enjoyed my upper theighs so I can run it too my pockets.

how do you like your pump belt? I'm thinking of buying one but im not sure if it would be comfortable.

Couldn't be without it, @curtis.danielle ! I have four - I don't wear the white one pictured often, but I have a black one the same that I wear most of the time, and another, also the same but which I have adjusted to a little tighter, for running. Those are all from http://www.hid-in.com/

For sleeping in I have a much looser SPI-belt, which is fine for night (looser pocket so easier to hoik pump out at night if it needs fiddling with - during the day though I don't go near the pump itself as I use solely the handset - I use an Insight pump, which for me needs no fiddling with during the day) - https://spibelt.com/shop/spibelt/large-pocket-spibelt/ - I got it from a sports shop, and there are all sorts of similar products around though.

But for daytime full on comfort snug fitting pumpery I would SO recommend Hid-In! There is nothing to rub or jiggle or get in the way - the SPI mentioned above has a big big clip to do it up with, but the Hid-In has an almost invisible and completely not-get-in-the-way-able very secure catch. Highly recommended!

I love wearing my pump above my waist, ie not in my pocket, because of not wanting to be having to be careful of it and the hosepipe - or even aware of them - when in the bathroom.......

:)

Best start a new post for pump belts/ pouches i reckon as being new to pumping myself i think i ought to give it a try.

Snapsy, your showing flesh again! I best retaliate and get my "Gut online" i have to use femine hair remover so my canulars stick Lol.

Regards

Martin

thank you so much for the help! I will definitely try one of these out. it will be much more secure and not slide out of pockets and such, which is exciting!
