Over the last few days I have been having increasing difficulty getting the 500mg Bolamyn Metformin SR tablets to go all the way down. I keep feeling its stuck at the bottom of my throat, as I type I keep sipping or gulping water to try and get it shifted. Anyone got any tips ? I've tried hot food, cold food, liquids, a boiled egg, a handful of cherry tomatoes
(On the plus side, no upset stomach )

I bought a tablet cutter from a well known high street pharmacy, this was rubbish. I then bought from the same place a nail clipper which worked much better to halve the size of the tablet.

The OP is taking about SR, (slow release) tablets and these should not be crushed or cut as they are meant to last several hours within the system.

Thanks, education point. I do wonder why it appears that 500 g is the smallest size Metformin I could get, there is likely a wider range of medicated diabetics who would prefer 2 x 250 g.

Serious question: when you take a mouthful of food, is the size of that mouthful bigger than the size of the tablet?

If so, then you are regularly swallowing larger sized 'lumps' than the tablet, with no trouble.

If that is the case, you could try taking some food and chewing it, then just before you swallow it, embed the tablet inside the food in your mouth. then just swallow as normal.
