I was diagnosed t2 13 weeks ago and so far have average bs of 5.8 - I know cos I've been wearing the freestyle libre. Don't know why but this afternoon got really fed up and had 2 flapjacks and a bar of chocolate. Needless to say the blood sugar is soaring. Bother bother (or less repeatable words to that effect). I'm not on meds. It seems like once a month or so I get so fed up of the food plan (lchf). :(

Worry not, you fell off the 'D' bike. Dust yourself down and get back on just as soon as you are ready:)

Oh blimey, its good to know someone knows how it feels!!

if you do that 4 times a year it will probably not be a problem , but if you do it every other day then it is really bad for you...

I have decided that Christmas evening I´ll eat whatever I like and on my birthday.. and maybe a day of two at my hollydays..

I have had some chocolate biscuits and a Boost today too... This has been a bad three days!

Hi,
Don't beat yourself up over it too much I've eaten a lot worse (hence type 2), sometimes when were feeling low or fed up with things it's so easy to reach for that sweet snack we have been depriving ourselves of. Try avoiding having it in the house or if you need something sweet then choose a piece of fruit instead as its less damaging on the blood sugars. It can be so hard sticking to any diet just remind yourself this isn't just an ordinary diet creating weight loss where the odd slip means very little really, but one that is vital to our health and avoidance of horrible complications. Having said that, I'm relatively new to this diabetic scenario to and expecting to fall of the wagon as it were every day as I eventually do every diet (and there's been many), I just hope to stay strong.
Good luck for the future

Like you, I fell off the wagon this afternoon and ate 6 wagon wheels. Stupid me, but it's done and hopefully won,t do it again

Hi @Angelofthemarches this is just your mind rebelling. Can I suggest that you find satisfying alternatives that do less harm; maybe roasted / toasted nuts (I do brazils, cashews, hazelnuts and pecan), let them cool and then add to Greek yogurt with a spoonful of Oppo ice cream. Alternatively some double cream several berries and 2 squares of 90% good quality dark chocolate. Another idea is to invest just under a tenner and for the "8-week blood sugar diet recipe book" and look under the second occasional treats, or find low carb desert recipes online. If you are like me you might respond to considering complications, this always works for me to avoid the worst of excesses - sorry for this negative point but it may work for you.

I feel your pain.. I did it on my birthday on Friday with fish and chips. Felt awful afterwards :(
I find the key for me is to have some delicious but not so naughty snacks available. Mixed salted nuts. my favourite cheeses and today I made low carb chocolate truffles , they're so rich I can't eat more than a couple at once.
Pick yourself up and remember.. Tomorrow is another day and that one bad day doesn't mean failure x

Can you burn off the excess with exercise? Put on your favourite dance music, an exercise video, prance about and convert the sugar to something harmless.

they say that you can,t " out exercise" a bad diet , but i sure try, after our monthly pot luck, 30 min of brisk walk will bring
my bg down somewhat.plus i usually do a 16 hr fast.
