I have been on the LCHF diet since 8th Jan when I was diagnosed with pre diabetes ( blood test 45) At first I lost 2.5kg easily and thought 'cracked it' re the weight loss. Since then I have stayed exactly the same until the last couple of days when I seem to have actually put on 1kg. My eating is the same very controlled and even though I am not counting cals they are usually around the 800-950 cal mark. Could the difficulty be anything to do with my underactive thyroid, I am on 150 Thyroxine daily.
I am eating well and am never hungry, but only eating all the foods I am allowed to eat with no cheating, so I am so disillusioned at the mo.
I am working to Carbs 45g = 15%, Fat 73g = 55% and Protein 90g = 30%
This is just a guide I use on MyFitness Pal but the carbs are usually much less than 45g in fact the last 3 days were 19g, 31g and 23g carbs only
Any guidance will be gratefully received.

Up the fat and have a 1500 calorie day. If you go too low your body will kick and scream and hold on to everything. Do not up your carbs just the fat.

Many thanks for your answers. I really don't think I could up my calories as I am so full all the time that it would be impossible to eat more. I only have 2 proper meals a day, breakfast ( 2 eggs or kippers as main part) at lunchtime usually a coffee with fresh cream or a few blueberries with fresh cream and then about 6.30 a main meal with meat, veg roast or fried with olive oil ( often slices of cauliflower brushed with olive oil etc) and late evening a glass of unsweetened almond milk. What is wrong with my diet please to make me put on weight?
I should add by meat I mean, chicken, turkey, beef or pork

So are you eating when you get up and then dinner at 6.30? some people have experienced better results by reducing the window of time that they eat in so you could try breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner. I always skip breakfast so eat at about 1 pm then dinner at about 7pm. I start the day with tea.. but you could replace breakfast with the coffee and then have lunch and dinner.. this worked well for both weight loss and sugar control for me.
I don't thin there is anything wrong with your diet its just that the weight loss will probably not be a straight line progression.. the initial "whoosh" is because when you stop eating so many carbs your body releases water so you have the drop. Then you need to adapt to be more fuelled by fat which can take a few weeks.. so you have been going less than a month. Don't despair!
As people above have said maybe try some more fats.. butter on the veg for example so your body doesn't think it is being deprived of food. I'm afraid that it seems a bit more difficult for women to get such immediate results as men but give it more of a chance and the weight should come off. You didn't put on the weight in one month so it won't all come off in that time either..

Yes I could easily swap my lunchtime coffee with my egg meal ( breakfast is usually around 10.30am as I am still too full from the night before to eat any earlier) then coffee/ cream around 2.30 and then as mentioned dinner around 6.30. I will try having a coffee & cream in the am 10.30ish, then lunch and then dinner as advised by you. I am willing to try anything to get the weight moving in the right direction. Thanks for your advice
So you don't think the thyroid and thyroxine are causing any problems with weight loss ( I am not looking for an excuse - really I am not)

Your diet seems fine and bullbiker has made excellent suggestions. As I said, you could try intermittent fasting and supplements alongside your diet. Weight loss is not just about dieting : are you drinking enough, are getting good quality sleep, are you exercising (30 min walk a day), are you relaxing etc.? Here are more pointers :

I drink loads, I dog walk around 2.5 miles a day, however as the weather improves this should be more like 4 miles, I must admit I don't sleep well though, I seem to just have cat naps all night. I don't think I have had a good nights sleep for years. I still work full time so I should be tired but my mind is too active.

I have exactly the same problem. Started the 2nd week in January and lost 3.5 kilos. Seem to have put on 2 kilos this last week. The worst thing is my husband who is not diabetic decided to eat same as me but with slightly more carbs because he has a physical job. He has lost 12pounds!!! Feeling a bit low now. But sticking to it

If you still have a cycle, you could find your hormones are in play? At certain times of the month fluid can be retained.

It's just a thought.

I no longer have a physical cycle, I am in my 60's now but I think it is still there in my mind. About every 4/5 weeks have a terrible craving for chocolate. Don't give in now but if absolutely necessary I have 1 square of 100% choc. I will stick with it though and just stare daggers at my other half!

Is the unsweetened almond milk made from soya? Underactive thyroid sufferers should avoid soya!

Your calories are way too low to maintain - fine if you are doing a low calorie reversal attempt, but low carb is not normally a calorie restricted way of eating.
I am eating low carb, and was losing weight at 2lb a week - but with the diabetes type 2 all sorts of things seem to be happening, my BG is up and down, weight loss stopped - but I am gaining a waist rather than an equator, have more energy and feel so much younger - but I am just stickng to the diet, going out every day and waiting for things to normalise. I am really confident that low carb will sort me out, as it always has done in the past.
I take 175mg of Thyroxine, which should sort out my defunct thyroid, and seems to allow me to lose weight at least some weeks - but I suspect that eating a suposedly cholesterol lowering diet has messed up my metabolism - hopefully it will come right as I do more exercise and ignore the advice from doctor and dietician.

I am grateful to you all for your advice, I think maybe getting my sleep sorted will be a good starting point. I'm sure my diet is more or less correct but the weight is a bit solid so will take an effort to get is moving. I have followed advice from Bulkbiker and today cut out brekkie and just had coffee, a kipper at about 2pm and then dinner about 6.30. Lets see if a little starvation will shock my body, the ridiculous thing is that even cutting out a meal I was not hungry so it was no big deal. Apart from the underactive thyroid I also had a hip replacement 18 months ago so it keeps my dog walking down to about 2.5 miles in muddy weather ( slippery underfoot) but fingers crossed it will all work out in the end as it is more than just a diet, it is to avoid the big D to I have no option but to continue.

Based on your percentages it seems you're eating around 1200 calories. That's about where i am and if I eat much more I don't feel well. Stuffed.
Some people need to cut out all dairy in order to lose weight. Even just a few bites at night, the scale will be up in the morning. Also look for other food intolerances as they too will stall weight loss. I eat more fat than you and about half the protein you eat. We only need a certain amount of protein for maintenance and repair. More is not needed.

Above all, I listen to my body and meter. I don't count calories and I eat small meals or I get too full. I don't like to bog down my digestion.

Can I ask - what are your goals?

Is it to lose weight? How much do you need to lose?

A hypoactive thyroid can affect weight loss and make it hard to lose weight, so it may be that you need to wait until your next round of blood tests and see if that is the cause and they may up your dosage.

Try adding fats like walnut oil to dress your vegetables and add a sprinkle of toasted seeds.

I'm having the same problem with weight gain on a low carb diet (type2, diabetic for 17 years, no medication). I am finding it hard to up the fat without the protein in order to eat enough calories. I don't have enough exercise due to other health problems but I am trying to remedy that - walking is difficult. Could do with suggestions about food and can anyone tell me about how much fruit and what I can eat with cream?

I'm losing nicely on low carb low fat. I know goes against the principle of lchf but I take 175mg thyroxine too. I'm on beta blockers too which can slow down things. I'm also in huge pain when walking so no exercise involved and on max tramadol painkillers.
I've just started orilstat tablets so had to go low fat not to get bad side affect.
So far I've lost 3.4kgs and feel I've lost more since. Clothing getting loose.
If you're at your wits end with lchf try low carb low fat?

Berries only with cream but not too many.
I had a banana yesterday because I was hitting a low bg so I had that instead of waiting and needing glucose tablets. Although I'm getting plenty of potassium according to my blood tests.
