Good afternoon all I would like to update you on my post yesterday about my hypo on bus I decided to give bus company a ring this morning spoke to a lady told her problem and what happened she put me though to manager he couldn't have been more appologetic said he was sorry this happened he said he thinks the driver may have been new and didn't understand the rules exactly he said they do have a policy of no eating or drinking on the bus because of people throwing packets and tins etc on the floor which can be hazardous to other passengers but said this doesn't apply to people with health conditions and who may need to eat during the journey said looks like they need to retrain there staff I said we will leave it at that anyway good news is he has giving my wife a free 6mths free pass to travel anywhere on there buses (I have got a free disable bus pass) all she has to do is pick it up from office said did want him to have a word with driver I said no don't think it was his fault just had bad training so will leave leave it at that good outcome really . thanks for all messages think will just put it behind us thanks again.

Thanks brunneria for post just noticed on your post can you tell what reactive hypoglycemia is I have been type 1 for 43yrs and I don't think I've ever heard this mentioned does it apply to type 1 s don't laugh at me if it's simple answer lol thanks

Don't worry! There are no stupid questions around here. :)

RH is a weird thing. A lot of docs don't even believe it exists, but for those of us who get it, it is very real indeed. You have to look long and hard to find a doc or an endocrinologist who knows what it is, and can offer advice or treatment.

Basically, we get an over-production of insulin in response to high carb intake. Kind of like our own bodies inject us with too much insulin. The result is that if we eat enough carbs to trigger the insulin over-reaction we end up with a hypo. Then we have to be very careful not to treat the hypo with too many carbs, which will set the cycle off again...

So for us, the trick is to avoid too many carbs, so we don't get the over production of insulin in the first place.

It is mainly diet controlled - by low carbing - although a lot of us end up with type 2 diabetes in the end, mainly because we have worn out our capacity to produce our natural insulin. I don't think it would ever apply to T1s, because you have to inject your insulin. Hope that made sense.

@Dairygrade . That's a result. Hopefully that's someone else now better educated in the weird and wonderful world of diabetes.

Yes thanks guys let's hope it's done some good on educating a few more people? Thanks
