it's a no. So is rye bread, barley bread, corn bread, rice cakes, millet cakes and any of the porridges made of those grains. Chuch out your cereals. Skip the polenta, forgo the bed of rice, and forget that rice pudding ever existed.

Sometimes, reality bites
Not strictly true a lot of us can eat some of those things you mention. Many here have Bergen Linseed and Soya bread also Lidl protein rolls and many find rye bread is fine. Some people can eat porridge and I can eat a certain make of Granola which hardly has any impact on my BG. We really can't say what anyone else can or can't eat we are all very different we only know that about our self

Wheat will convert to glucose in the stomach and hence increase your blood sugar. The amount of any spike will depend on how advanced your diabetes is. You just need to experiment.

....... and possibly one of the most effective ways of advancing your diabetes is to tuck into the list of foods provided by @Contralto

If you find any shop bought bread spikes you here is a recipe for low carb bread. I just tried it. It's great lightly toasted. You make it in a mug in the microwave, it comes out like one small bread roll. I sliced it into four slices then toasted it.

Oooh. Just made this and it made a pleasant alternative to the Lidl protein roll. Very quick and very filling. I am tempted to try again with some cinnamon, nutmeg or cardamom, add some cream and strawberries, and see if it will make a passable alternative to a scone. I shall measure my bloods in 2 hours and see if it is too good to be true!

Good idea to try a sweet version! I had it for lunch today with cream cheese, salmon and cucumber, tasty and filling as you say. My blood sugar pre meal was 5.7mmol/l and 5.7mmol/l 2 hours later
