That doesn't seem right, is your GP no help?
About as much help as an umbrella with holes in. All they do is refer him to specialists and even then they don't know the answers . He's had endless blood tests . Mri. Emg. Yet before he was diagnosed with diabetes he had none of these problems .

All the best Ron @eldergarth thanks for keeping us updated Tina. Hope all goes well this afternoon
Still no definite answers , although Dr is sure it's not dementia. She said it could be a mixture of diabetes, anxiety and stress . Failing that she said Ron maybe faking it..... don't think so .

Hi Tina Marie,

I am sorry to hear that your husband is so unwell. How high are his sugars, I find that if mine are really high it can affect my memory and I also get nasty brain fog.

Take care of yourself, all this uncertainty must be very wearing.

Hello Tina Marie,

They seem to be going up a bit. Might be worth trying to get them down. What is he eating? Those afternoon readings, how long after eating did he take them?

*hugs*

Great that he is testing again, he is on the path of getting more control over his sugars. What sort of stuff is he eating? Is he eating sweet stuff or carbs because he is feeling frustrated with his illness?

For breakfast he has gluten and wheat free cereal , it has very little effect on him. Then later morning he has a couple of plums. Lunch it could be plain yoghurt or a sandwich on wholemeal bread with an apple . Have to be careful what he eats now as he has swallowing problems. Teatime it's fish or chicken or turkey with veg of some sort . Then supper oatcakes or 1/2 a bar of his stevia chocolate which again don't affect him. He's seeing gp on Wednesday as they did stop his strips because his hba1c had dropped.

Great news that he is (hopefully) getting his strips. I see quite a lot of fruit in his daily menu, that can push the blood sugar up. I would be a bit wary of bread and oatcakes too. Not sure what cereal you are using, but if he is trying to reduce his blood sugars bacon and eggs is a great start to the day or scrambled eggs, I have them with smoked salmon (when I am rich) or mushrooms and LOTS of butter. I know that is a bit counterintuitive as we are all told to cut down on our fats, but it really helps to fill you up. I have a constant struggle with sugars, so know how your husband must feel.

I'm trying to be careful of what he eats due to his heart trouble . If it's not one thing with Ron it's another .

Morning . Off to see gp today with Ron to see about all his ailments, plus she has got his blood test results back from Queens. Fingers crossed they have found something which would explain his muscle weakness . Going to see about getting his test strips reinstated . He's just tested now and he's 7.8 much better than they have been . Have a good day . Xxx

Marvellous Tina-Marie, great news about Ron's blood sugar. Tell the doctor that it is very important he gets testing strips because it helps him manage his condition. I hear that I am entitled to them on the NHS because I use glicazide. I keep forgetting to ask because I have a Codefree meter and order up my own strips on Amazon.

Good luck to you both this morning and well done again.
