I heard about the possibility of developing diabetes from Statins, though I read that this isn't a great risk - but, a risk is a risk, right?
The article says
"He also reported that at least one in 21 statin users suffers muscle damage and one in 204 developed diabetes which, along with muscle pain, has been linked to the controversial cholesterol-lowering drugs aimed at preventing heart disease. "
I don't think they mention how many people were involved.
Though 1 in 204 as mentioned in this article is higher than I expected, if this is accurate.
Well according to this site 1 in 16 Uk adults have diabetes, 1 in 204 developing it from a statin looks a rather more insignificant number ( not that Im in any way a fan of statins, I just like numbers to be meaningful)My opinion is that 1 in 204 could probably become diabetic without taking statins. In my case the diabetes came first.

@Deanoh I was on Pravostatin and my Hba1c rose from 48 to 54 - it soon dropped to 36 after stopping them. They also gave me dizzy spells and sleep problems which was why I came off them.I heard about the possibility of developing diabetes from Statins, though I read that this isn't a great risk - but, a risk is a risk, right?
I also read about them raising BG levels, which I can vouch for as I take Atorvastatin, going to ask about Pravastatin when I go to see the doctor as it's said that's the only Statin that doesn't raise BG.
Unsure how much it raises by as I take Bisoprolol and that also increases BG![]()
