I had my last diabetes review in February during which my GP agreed I could stop my Amlodipine (BP med), as with losing weight my BP had come down to normal. Today armed with my home readings which only went up a tiny bit he has erased Amlodipine from my repeats
I was keen to stop that, rather than the Ramipril which I’m also on as Amlodipine can cause raised blood sugars whilst Ramipril protects kidneys so I’m quite happy to stay on it. My blood sugars have come down a little and I didn’t get a lecture about self monitoring when I showed him the graph on my Glucose Companion app! Instead I got huge congratulations about my change of lifestyle and taking control. He said “I was a model patient and made his job very easy”!
He said that normally he would put me on an annual review now but as I’m keen to try dropping my Metformin dose down he’ll do my next HbA1c and review in August and discuss my Metformin dose then
I’ll keep an eye on my predicted HbA1c on MySugr in the meantime
