Low Carb Low Fat?

Seriously?.. I have never seen a low fat diet advocating for eating the things you list.
Have you not seen the low fat diets talking about a matchbox sized bit of cheese a day, and half a pint of milk, with a sliver of spread if you have to, but stop most saturated fats? I thought that was the standard dietary advice.

That’s certainly the advice they give at Slimming World. With the addition of unlimited Muller light yogurt, which contains about 12g sugar in each!

As I said I have never seen a low fat diet that advocates the use of butter.. But low carb low fat is almost as silly an idea as caloric restriction they may well be successful in the short term but are long term unsustainable.

I've been on low carb / low fat diet got nearly 2 months now and I'm doing okay , I'm not going to say it's easy but it does get better , I'm going back to see my diabetic nurse next month so I'll see

Its worrying that low carbing has made you anemic. I didnt know that was a side effect : (((((
I havent eaten so many things since starting low carb. I've cut out loads of nutrients but I lost weight. Not intentionally. I look back and I eat less of everything. Remember I'm a big person so beef and veg would supply enough iron normally but I'm big so need more but i 'm feeding my body too little nutrients. If I add those foods back, I'll never lose weight. :(
I know what I need to eat to lose weight but end up running out of food, every month. Then to reintroduce nuts, cheese, cream and other luxuries I'd run out even sooner.
I'm feeling much more lively on iron supplements so I've been low for a while.
Having a back appointment in April so hoping for a scan to see where the problem is. I stopped metformin 2 days ago and no diarrhea any more. Hugely more energy too.
Maybe diarrhea has being flushing my nutrients too. A bad combination.
Dieting when suffering with severe diarrhea. Common sense tells me not to but I'm desperate to lose weight. I need more weight off before op as op only does so much. I have to do the rest. It takes 2yrs after op to settle weight. A long job. Not like people think.

Does @There is no Spoon mean for eg. Skimmed milk and low fat cheese and low fat yoguarts?
Processed low fat foods?
The diets seem to recognise the need for calcium. And I thing we all ignore anyone telling us to go for low fat yougart but in the response to the OP I did stress the importance of low Fat being what you add or take away from a meal not buy of the shelf.
If that helps. ;)

not round here, low fat products are frowned on the the nurses and HCP's. Full fat, but only a teeny bit.
I like their thinking.
I use lard and butter now instead of margarine and sunflower oil.
I eat beef, chicken, cod, salmon, mackerel, lamb, pork, bacon and sausages. Eggs and frozen veg with seasonings. Occasional thinly spread fresh potato on a fish pie or cottage pie. If feeling I need a treat with sprinkled cheese too.
I don't eat sweet veg or salad other than iceburg lettuce or celery with soft cheese.
I eat no nuts now, no cheese (mainly) no cream or pork scratchings. No bread not even protein ones at mo. No pasta, potato, rice or pies, pastries or crisps and no sugary treats. My birthday was low fat for an abdominal scan. Then day after I wasn't interested due to worry.
No alcohol nor drinks other than reduced sugar dilute fruit juice or diet lemonade. Black decaf coffee.

I still not lose weight unless walking... alot.

Portobello mushrooms cooked in butter top with mozzarella cheese lclf.

Perhaps they have change there way of thinking a bit lately there seems to be a recognition of dairy as a source of calcium. Whether there admitting that's fat or not I have no idea. But it seems to be classed as Low Fat as long as your not eating much.

Portion control = low fat. Bit sneaky if you ask me;)

I guess my calcium comes from cheese but once I start menopause I will have to increase calcium.
I will have to watch proteins too. Kidney health deteriorates in women after the menopause.
Menopause changes alot in PCOS sufferers too. Thyroid health can change too.

Its important for me to get my weight off before menopause so my body can adjust for the best.

Have though thought about eating spinach instead of lettuce, for a good source of Iron?;)

I must buy some frozen as fresh goes off too quickly. Not e eryone sells frozen thou. I'll keep an eye out. Cannot remember if Iceland I bought it from last time. I'll have a look. Thanks for suggestion. I'll add it into stir-fry as don't like too much.

I buy a bag of baby spinach in any supermarket when I do my weekly shop costs £1. It usually has a good date and keeps well after opening. The taste is milder than spinach so as salad leaves with a squirt of lemon juice. Its great in an omlette I find. I am sorry you have so many difficulties managing your health complexities.

exactly that's low carb high fat... this thread is taking about low carb low fat.
Sorry typo it was from a low carb low fat meal planer.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong just seen a couple of web sites with examples like this as lclf maybe its the amount/total consumption that is consider to be low.
It's not ever meal, so over the course of a week the meal plan is low in fat. ;)

Not telling what to eat or how to eat,
Raw spinach is completely different taste to cooked, it's not so different to lettuce.

I read something a while back about the health benefits of raw vegetables in promoting a healthy liver helping it regenerate itself and increasing its ability to function at full capacity.

Taking into account the fatty liver argument of T2 it seemed to easy a health benefit, not to give it a try.
And Popeye swears by the stuff.;)
