BS levels good but symptoms keep coming

Type 2
Although my BS levels are in the 4.9 to 5.9 range I still get blurred vision occasionally and the need to go to the loo a lot! Also cold feet sometimes.
So the simple question is - even if you keep your levels under control do the symptoms of type 2 keep going - albeit not so bad ? As a little more info am only on 1 X 500 Metformin a day and lost about 4 stone and down to average weight

Wow! You have done well. I am also down to 1 Metformin per day (from 3) and I do find that I occasionally get my only symptom ... which is tingling fingertips. It's lessened somewhat though! Maybe others can help with the vision, toilet trips etc since I've never had those. Good to meet you :)

This may be an obvious question, sorry, but have you had a sight test recently? I was concerned about my blurry vision but a trip to the opticians revealed I needed varifocals. Unsurprisingly this cured the blurry vision!:watching:

Yep - normally about 5.7 to 5.9
It might be worth asking your doctor to bump up your Metformin dose (gradually, of course!). Alongside my low carb diet (<30g carb daily) I have recently worked my way up to 2g Metformin XR and it has suddenly made a huge difference to my readings. Previously 5s were pretty normal for me, with an occasional 6, but now I get mostly 4s with the occasional 5 ie NORMAL BGs!!! I never thought I would see those. So if you are getting symptoms when your bg is in the high 5s, lowering it to the 4s might just cure them. On the other hand, if your diet is not already really low carb, your solution might lie in improving that. Personally I needed both strategies.

Sounds maybe a good idea. Think I could have got a little complacent getting down to the 5’s.
So easy to slip. I keep off all the nasties but the odd slices of granary creep in!!

I was waiting for my retinopathy check which I passed last week before investing in new specs. Now is the time I think
