I’ve been in range most of today! About 80%, apparently. First time in three weeks... nine injections so far, with at least another two to go for basal and dinner, but it’s better than it’s been in weeks.

Wow Mel , nine injections that seems like an awful lot. How often are you giving correction doses, I assume they are correction ones. What levels are your BG rising to when you decide to take another injection

Poor soul you must be like a pin cushion

My record in a day is 18 injections! Usually, I’ll correct when I hit 6.5-7 with half a unit to drop me by 1.5mmol. However, I’ve been getting bad hormone related insulin resistance, which only lasts a few days, so can’t increase my basal as I’m on Tresiba and it doesn’t react in time. So on days like this, I’m dribbling in 0.5-1u every hour or so to stop it getting out of hand. I’ve not been able to get in below 7 for a few days, but am mostly able to keep in in single digits. Obviously stacking is an issue, but I log all my doses in two apps, so I’m aware of how much I have on board at any time. I did try the official DAFNE only correcting before a meal thing as an experiment, and it hit 17, so I took four units (should have dropped me to 5 minimum) and went hypo. So I’m back to my dribbling! Don’t know if it’s the heat, but my few days of resistance is into its third week. Reluctant to up the Tresiba any more than I have already in case it goes back to normal and I’ll spend a week hypo.

And yes. I look like I’ve been beaten up by an elf.

Back in the days of less knowledge, mixtard insulin, no carb counting and hypos requiring my wonderful wife to get me out of nighttime hypos, I would often find myself smeared in dried weetabix at some silly hour of the morning.
Me...” how bad was it?”
Wife.....” you’re an awkward ba****d, why can’t you just do what I ask? I had to smear 3 weetabix around your clamped shut mouth”
Me......”sorry babe”
Wife.....”it’s ok, but next time I am going to kick you”
Me.......”that’s not nice”
Wife......” don’t worry, you won’t realise I’ve done it”
Winner lol

Wow. The omnipod can't come quick enough for you....I bet you are going to be wishing August goes past quick

Gluco tabs are horrible like eating chalk dust

Recently discovered jelly beans although not convinced they raise BG levels quick enough. Are jelly babies better at raising BG?
Hi @smc4761, Have you been able to check you BSL through a hypo episode.? I found it interesting that from a low level the BSL can rise within 10 minutes, possibly too short a time for the jelly beans etc to work BUT the symptoms are still there. I can have say, BSL of 7 + and still FEEL hypo.
If I refrain from taking extra lollies, foodetc after the first say, 3 jelly beans, the level can be 12 + within an hour or so.
Of course everyone is different, depending on insulin doses ect. But I think it is interesting that resolution of hypos symptoms may be well after BSL has been restored (or overshot).
Trying to assuage the "hypo hunger" symptoms and not eat the pantry bare is not easy , of course.

Good morning all.
Sun is shining bright again here the East Mids. A fave song of mine as always been “ Mr. Blue sky” by the legendary ELO.
(Jeff Lynne unbelievably talented). This along with just about any Beach boys track is starting to wear a little thin now:).
I need music to make me feel likes it’s raining. Anyone got anything by The Smiths?:)

Last nights correction dose didn’t quite come up to expectation, still hit 14 this morning. Dexcom did inform me of the rise around 1 a.m but in all honesty I just couldn’t be ar** d to give it time.
Smoothie and coffee along with ( hopefully) enough and not too much insulin should have me back in range.

Here’s to the rest of today for all of us. For me I’m gonna put my arm around my diabetes, look him in the eye, smile, tell him that we’re meeting daughter, grandkids later for lunch out and there’s no way he’s gonna spoil it for any of us.:p:p

Good morning y'all, 5.5 on waking which felt good, yeah yeah I've gone on about it but this Tresiba seems to be working for me :) so I'd like to understand what happened with the Lantus as its effect on me seemed to have changed over the last few years as I think I remember being pleased when changing onto it.

But anyway :) looks like it's turned out nice again, I've got an appointment in our town centre at 10am which will wreck my morning and I'm just starting to feel like I'm catching up with my window round (I'm not but it feels like I am :) )

After a dodgy evening meal I was high before bed.
I took a 1.5 dose which should have (and I use the term loosely in this instance) put me right for this morning.......
Woke at 1.17 am feeling as rough as toast, nearly fell down the stairs, and did a blood test.
Why I did a blood test is beyond me as I felt that ill I new exactly what it was.
Anyhoo I was 2.1.
After a gob full of magic off I staggered back to bed then at 5.30 I was 9.8.
Felt really weak of leg which is unusual for me.

Hey ho it happened but it shouldn't and I'm grateful for waking up (obviously) and I'm in work now and I'm at 7.9 which I'm fine with as I'm about to start painting.

Onwards and upwards

Tony

@Tony337 . I think us T1’s need a special *** emoji.
Hope you stay good for the rest of the day.

Jelly babies, or whatever hypo treatment we use, deserve a *** emoticon (emoji or whatever) all of their own......

You are close to passing out then pop 5 magic jelly babies in your gob then *** you are feeling better!!!!!!!

It still amazes me after 44 years how absurdly simple yet how difficult it is.

All part of our daily battle against the forces of chaos...

Thanks for the good wishes

Tony

This is the rainiest newish song I can find. We have to listen to newer songs, or we will be trapped forever in a 70/80s time warp. It already feels like that with the music in some shops, especially at Christmas.

Time warp you said :p Oh yes :)

But then working outdoors 12 months a year that's one I like

Hi @Alison54321 . By my reckoning we have 6 weeks until the charity shops start selling Christmas cards and then 2 weeks until we hear Noddy screaming, George lamenting and Roy wishing.:):):).
Bring on those Christmas classics.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

@Knikki . Wow ........ Type 1 diabetic and a Smiths fan.
At least there’s medication for 50% of your problems.:p:p:p:):):)
