Hi all
I just watched a youtube video by Dr Eric berg and he was talking about blood sugars and he said "A normal blood sugar should be around 60 to 100 before meals and can spike up to 140"

Holy ****

Surely please this is not right!
Ive listen to the part of vid twice now, please can someone else listen or watch "how to fix a slow metabolism"

Am i wrong or have i missed something

P.s. i didnt watch all the video as im at work but just slightly took back by what i herd.

Apart from the fact he is using US measures MG/DL.. Dr Berg is a bit of an "out there" person who sometimes says some very odd things.. and sometimes tries to sell you the products he pushes... I'm not a fan although many are but when I see "Dr Berg" I reach for the salt and take a very large pinch.

Yes i do too however there are people that would think otherwise and could seriously put there healths at risk

I agree with you totally. Some of the subjects that he does discuss at times just does not ring true. He seems a little whacky to me. I did read that he had been in trouble for giving out wrong information. Berg seems to have jumped onto the bandwagon of the keto diet and is now on YouTube with his wife cooking recipes, or showing himself doing a shopping haul. In fact he is on YouTube every day. I asked him once "How do you manage your clinic? as you seem to be on YouTube every day" He told me that he had given up his clinic, and is now on YouTube full time. That spoke volumes to me lol

Thanks
That cleared that up lol

No worries - It can be a bit confusing to start with. You're not the first, and I'd bet the farm you won't be the last either.

Good luck with it all.

Having converted the numbers - I don't understand - I get those numbers eating low carb - sometimes lower. Are they high? Low?
I think steve hadn't converted the numbers so thought Dr Berg was talking about 100 mmol/l which would be pretty scary!

So, you mean you sometimes takes what he says, with a grain of salt? :)

. . . . . 60 to 100 before meals and can spike up to 140"

mg/dl, so 3.3, 5.4 and 7.8 mmol/l.

My GP told me some time ago that my metabolism was broken, no suggestions as to what to do about it, just broken. Extra exercise over a 6 month period didn't kick start it, despite assurances from personal trainer, I just ached a lot more.
I have seen Dr Berg's videos, among others, in an effort to find an answer and he seems to make a lot of sense. In desperation I have tried some of his products but can't say it has made a huge difference if any.
I'm waiting for an appointment with an endocrinologist and I'm hoping that in view of my present very low calorie intake (<1200 calories on a good day) he/she won't be suggesting anything like bariatric surgery. I'm getting much closer to doing something daft like taking up smoking, doing a Kurt Gödel (mathematician who starved to death after his wife was hospitalized and could no longer prepare his meals), or procuring something like amphetamine.
So, if you find an answer to slow metabolism, please let us know.

Food... eat more? you seem to be a classic "I'm under eating and my metabolism has slowed" person. Or the alternative would be do an extended fast but I think the small metabolic rise you may get from that won't be enough.
So feast on ultra low carb high fat foods (keto) get your metabolism up again and the follow a feast/fast regime and see how that goes. No idea how much you have to lose so that info would help.

Im looking at the newcastle diet
Which is aimed at diabetics but it is a low calorie diet of 800

My weight too has stopped when when it was comeing off sooo quick not sure weather to eat more or less.
I think possibly more protein and keep in 800 cal ....i dont know.

I think my body may b adjusting as my my heart is better and cholesterol is down from 7.3 down to 4.8 and still dropping
