You know when you're struggling and make a mistake? Well I forgot to prime the pen, so the tea time bolus was fresh air, it dawned on me when I rose to 16 that something was wrong, and I primed my pen for another jab nothing came out and the penny dropped.... Mels cat springs to mind.
@Diakat a like was the best option I could use for your post as a hug seem inappropriate, I'll say what I always say, write or email your CCG and make a formal complaint that they are denying you access to a medical device approved for use on the NHS (75% of England now has 'some' access to it), quote the RMOC guidelines and have them investigate, then bump the complaint up to the next level, contact your MP about the post code lottery and ask them to write to the CCG on your behalf.

I honestly believe that every T1 without access should follow that approach, make a nuisance and don't go away, and remember, 8 blood tests a day costs 'around' the same price as a Libre script and we're allowed to test that many times....
 
Maybe we should try a bit of high profile crowd funding, for Libre, and then in the process use it to have a long whinge about the unfairness of the current system.

I'm not someone who does high profile, but I do think the way forward on this is embarrassment, eventually the government has to be so embarrassed by this failure they have to have a proper national policy.

I know, BUT (I'm one of those annoying people who will use but in an argument) the ones not prescribing are a minority now and they're blatantly ignoring the RMOC commissioning guidelines (the ones that are being used in the main by the 'compliant' CCG's) and as such the complaints procedure is worth pursuing, I've mentioned the local radio before too as it's a local news story and the more T1s making a noise can only help.

By heck :) my new Humalog has only taken 49 minutes to start working :)
 
Morning everyone, sun or no sun today?
I'm hoping for the latter as there are still 50 bulbs to go. I spent yesterday clearing a space for half but my back was done and light going before I got them in.

Woke to Madam snivelling at 6.2. She was not happy as I'd reduced her basal by 1unit. I'm going to give it a couple of days to see how things go.
 
Good morning all. After a googling session and another night of correcting highs I’m really not sure my friends Madame B and Madame D are either truly brittle or on my side. Now where did I put that guillotine last time I had a tidy (another slattern here - it was ages ago), it’s time to get rid of them.
It’s true that even with careful counting and dosing Madame B is often unpredictable, but that’s true of us all. I’ll be keeping a critical eye on it.
And the C-peptide five years after diagnosis was a long time ago, maybe him indoors remembered the figure wrongly? I can’t really remember it at all, bs were kept very low in the BMH back then. However, it’s been repeated by Consultants since then that I do still produce some insulin (?!).
I think I may have spent the last week warding off bugs as my throat feels assaulted and my nose isn’t fit for smelling roses.

I agree, Diakat, Kent’s purse strings are knotted so tight a libre’s not likely.
 
Good morning all
Well sort of a good morning.....woke to a 6 very happy. Had my breakfast and got my dinner in my bag, alarms going off on my watch with a double up arrow!! 13.5 and rising....checked my Timesulin and the lid was off last 11 hours ago....GRRRRR!!!!! forgot my 7 units of bolus....happy days

Well that was an interesting night, think I over corrected for the wedding cake (yes there is still a batch in the freezer :joyful: ) and went to bed round the 4.5 mark couple of Jaffa Cakes (the food of Gods) should see me through the night.

But no! 'dun dun duurrrrrrrrr'

Seems I was going on about "a book with no ending that you could buy in the local town because it was on the radio" Mel's Cat would have been proud the way I was talking last night.

Anyway a lllooonnnngggg discussion with Mrs Knikki about how wonderful Jelly Babies are and if they are better then Jaffa Cakes (no) I finally ate a couple and went back to sleep.

Woke at a 4.4 which was fine now sat here with a 9.2 :arghh: and I really want that flake with me coffee but I will resist.

Morning everyone, my blood glucose has begun to behave quite well since I took most of the carbs out of my evening meal.

Before that I was getting a drop about 10 - 11 pm, which demanded a correction, and then led to an unstable night.

Removing carbs from an evening meal is not something that would work, or appeal, to everyone, but things have got a lot more predictable since I did it.
 
Went to a workshop on future health technology today as a healthcare consumer rep.. I loved the part where they showed a virtual image of the doctor consulting a patient in the country some 9 hours drive away. Funny thing was that someone delivering a cuppa tea to the patient accidentally walking partly through the doctor's virtual and the image flinched as the real doctor was reacting to his image!!! No split tea thank heaven !!
Also there was a drone delivering urgent blood somewhere, reckon that type of delivery service could come in handy if you left your cut lunch at home!!
And you could have a virtual consult with the doctor who faxes the script to the chemist and a drone could deliver your urgent medication, no need to leave the house !! But can the drone take my blood for a blood test and deliver it to the lab and give me my insulin injection before leaving ? Just do not try to feed the drone spaghetti 'cos it will leave a great mess and keep the dog and cat on leashes!!
They are even using robots in nursing homes to model exercises for residents to follow.
 
9.1 at 5.30 still struggling with evening meals and insulin dosage.
Dropped to 3.1 at 10 pm last night so overate as I needed sleep as I'm up early.
I took very little bolus with my evening meal but it still dropped.
I'm busy now between 7 and 10 pm but I'm only in my workshop making reindeer I'm not running a marathon.

Just to make matters worse I'm going for a game of squash this evening.....
I used to play but about 25 years ago.
I'm in good shape but not physically fit if that makes sense I'm always busy but don't do exercise but I have noticed of late I'm getting just a little bit out of puff when I get a wriggle on.
The idea of exercise fills me with horror but I used to play squash and tennis albeit many moons ago.

I'm a burke.................:)

Yup, the lower the evening carbs, and the simpler, the better the night. The trouble is it cuts out lots of things that him indoors likes for supper: fish and chips, pizza, spaghetti bol, unless I have small portions of the carb or remove bits of batter and no chips. Doable.
Split bolus meals are hard to keep up with if tired!

Mmmmmm fish and chips. My favorite food.....well come to think about it, I do believe that all carby things are my favorite food lol

I don't have this problem because I'm on my own, so I can do whatever I want. But it reduces the sense of sharing a meal if you don't eat significant parts of, it's difficult. Though @Mel dCP seems to have navigated this issue quite well. Maybe she can give some advice.
