Hi all, had my annual review with the DSN at my surgery today, best ever as a result of Libre. BUT: I need to rant and where better than here. Having just got Libre on scrip, I'd ordered the next two so I could collect them today from the pharmacy adjoining the surgery. The rest of my scrip was there, but no request for Libre and they didn't have any anyway so they'd have to be ordered. I was told to check with the surgery so I did. The scrip had been issued but not signed. I explained that I really needed it today so I could put it on a day early for it to settle down. The very helpful receptionist said she'd contact the duty doctor and ask him to sign it and to phone them this afternoon.
I got home and checked online, and now it seems the scrip has been issued. This ties in with the nurse telling me that the senior GP had asked her that morning whether I still met all the umpteen criteria required to qualify for Libre and had obviously delayed signing off the scrip till he'd spoken with her. I'm aware that having T1 makes me expensive for both the NHS and my GP practice. I'm also fed up with being policed like a two year old. I've self-funded Libre for over a year and improved enough - by the arbitrary rules of my CCG - to qualify for it on scrip. No congratulations (except from my terrific nurse), just on my case about whether I'm still behaving 4 weeks later! And no recognition of the fact that not only does this delay the **** thing working, I'll have to do another 15 miles round trip to collect them. Add in the effect of the stress and anger at all this on my bg - well done that GP!
