What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I really don't want to seem continually downbeat, especially when members have much harder times. My problems seem to lie with the huge disconnect between the highly visible success of weight loss and the ambivalence of my Hba1c numbers. 37 (5.5) is not clear cut in the way members getting low 30s or sub 30 can be confident things work. Far too much doubt for me at the moment I want it clear cut then I will come on board with wholly supporting LC message. It is clear cut for weight loss.
Sorry if this is OT but felt I needed to apologise for appearing negative.

I’m going to do the manhug thing cos hugs are good but I’m tempted to do a take you by the shoulders and shake you too.
37 is good! You’ve got down to a good weight too My understanding is that ‘normal’ is below 42
Much lower than 37 might be abnormal
Seriously if you’re at a good level and beating yourself up stops you rising to a bad level then crack on, but if the self flagellation makes you go Spursy then give it a miss.
You’re doing well mate, have a go at enjoying it

Thanks for the manly hug @Geoffbno6. I still seriously don't know/trust what a sensible level is. I don't have a satisfied setting unfortunately otherwise life would be much easier.:arghh:

7.6 and my highest fbs (I think) since I started testing. But there is a reason. I knew it would be high today and quite honestly I'm relieved it's not higher. You see I had a bit of a blow out last night. For 3 reasons. Hubby's birthday meal out, together with putting my 6 monthly hba1c behind me, and the fact that I'm at my lowest weight since starting this woe on 8th December last year. 4 lbs lower than where I would prefer to be. So I decided to have all 3 courses. 1st and 2nd course deliciously low carb and even included halloumi chips which you rarely see on a menu eating out. I was quite giddy tbh. Then came the dessert menu and I threw caution to the wind. Of course the red wine made me do it! I ordered a (jaws music here.....getting louder by the second!) Individual banoffee pie!!! Possibly the nicest dessert I've eaten in my life (or it could be the fact that i havent eaten dessert for almost 12 months that it tasted so darn good) I think I got off very lightly considering. Maybe my IR has got better over the months. One thing the reading does tell me is that i am and probably always will be diabetic. But I'm happy knowing that i can control it with what I eat (or don't eat!).

PS the hba1c results are good in that my level is lower than my last one of 41 in May. I'm in the 30s..... but only just at 39. I will be doing a more in depth post elsewhere in the forum about my result. I feel this post is quite long enough alteady considering it says 'fbs with a bit of chat'! Must be the Irish in.me, we just never shut up @ianpspurs ;)

Does anyone else wish they could type as fast as @Debandez ??
I wish I could blow out at get a 7.6. I got an 8.0 today after skipping breakfast
Never change Debs - we need at least one of you here.

What are halloumi chips? I had never heard of them before this thread and I keep meaning to go Google them ...

Banoffie pie I do know, because someone was eating it in Love Actually. And within a year or two of seeing that I had met a lovely big banoffie-colored horse named Banoffie.
