What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I'm very excited this morning. Firstly my BS are 5.6 and I had supper at midnight! Secondly I have some exciting news to share.

Yesterday was an emotional roller coaster.
A sad day in that I said goodbye to my beautiful young cousin. 26. But she is resting in peace now. What an amazing service. Uplifting. Positive. Happy. Celebration of her life. 26 years packed full of love, fun and happy friends and family times. Pics on PowerPoint. Hymns everyone knew. Poems. Tributes. So lovely. Then for the wake. An Irish wake. Enough said. It was still going when I left at well past 10pm (I had to travel home to Blackpool and got home just before midnight). I was starving when I got home. Only had some salad, inside of a pork pie and eggs covered in mayo during the day. BS 4.5 last night when i got home. Not been that low for a while. Just had 1 x thin with lots of cheese. and a glass of red. Very late to eat but I was actually what peckish.

I turned on my phone at about 9pm to 7 voicemails, numerous emails and several text messages! Basically the head of DCUK PR team contacted me. The Sunday Mirror are onto the fact NHS have a low carb app and want to feature my story THIS SUNDAY! Then the journalist himself (health journalist) contacted me....left voicemail x 2, text and email! I contacted him and gave him the ok to run with my story and photos (he was checking on copyright re pics). He did day he was using my local paper story wording but I sent him my updated journey as so much has happened since then and all so positive!! I don't think there will be time to edit now to be honest. But still, it gets the word out that low carb works.

This in itself made me so happy. But there's more.....

Then my surgery emailed. Moving forward re doing presentation on my journey in town, supported by council. They are supplying room, refreshments etc. Asking me to choose between venues! Head of PR said she will get us on that This Morning sofa yet!!! Bring it on.

I have a wedding today, my best friends daughter. Beautiful young woman marrying her beloved in the Lake District. Always wanted to go to a wedding there. Hope the weather holds out as it's outdoors by the Lake!!!!

Hope you have good days .

Just a little addition (promise!). At the wake I was mingling with lots of family. Our family is massive. My mum, born in Dublin, was one of 13. Each of her siblings had large families. You can imagine how many cousins I have! So many of us are type 2 diabetic. My age (56), older.... and much younger. Some over weight, some slim, some doing something about it (low carb and keto) and some not. I talked for some time with one cousin who was very clued up. We brought another cousin in on our conversation who is a doctor (non diabetic) and it made a very interesting conversation. There were that many diabetics there it was like being back in Birmingham! But what is apparent is low carb is spreading. Even my Dr cousin confirmed that. Happy days.
Sorry for your loss

6.9, which is better than the 7.2 yesterday. Whenever I don't post, I'm either too busy or sulking about a high score.
glad to see @Cumberland back in business, albeit sad news about the pup.
If you want a good giggle today read the Slimming World article in the Mail / Express: it's a hatchet job on LCHF that trots out all the things we know not be true. Brings out the keyboard warrior in me. Just thinking of a suitably pithy response. Problem is, that as goldfish, I think of great line, but then forget it 7 seconds later.

Sulking about a high score ..so funny

STUPID Saturday timetables....
Me & my friend OLIVER missed the 5.7.....

Sat here with a rake of other sad faces on the 6.3
And OLIVER, is getting on my wick,
( he's like an over active child sometimes !! )

It's because he was messing me about this morning, we are sat here right now..
<drums fingers, in annoyance>

Aggh...Thinking like this is just stressing me, and THAT ain't good for my BS levels...

I'll give that mindfulness a go, that the missus keeps on about.

"Om, om, om....happy thoughts....om,om,Om"

Well, not to sure, but that seemed to work...who knew.

Must tell the missus, she'll love to know she's right...AGAIN...LoL

Anyway, no point having the hump, it is what it is,.as a colleague seems to say about ANY situation.

Besides, me n OLIVER go back along ways...he's been there after every triumph AND the many disasters in my life, Plus the times we got DRUNK together to forget ...haha

So what if he's going through some issues at the moment...

He was there for me, so I'm going to be positive for him and helped him through this.

After all, we still make a pretty good team.
And i know I'd be lost without him.

"Oops, gotta go ...next stop "Beeok" is our one....'ding' 'ding'

Good morning all. It's just after 5 am here and I haven't gone to bed yet (a rare event) although I just did my blood glucose 5.2.

I don't usually get a rise/ dawn phenomena in the morning so I assume it will do for today. Good night all, have to get some sleep so I can do grocery shopping this afternoon.

Hello mates,
At a couple of the other forums I've frequented there was a thread like this one where we all sorta checked in each day, with our first cup of coffee or tea, and reported our fasting or waking blood glucose level and some short comment about whether we're ok with it or if not - why not?...

It worked well as a sort of 'first thread to check' each morning and post to.

I'll start.

This morning was a 5.6mmol for me. That's about normal for me

What about you?

Sorry to hear of the bg control issues. No doubt my dear wife will insist on popping corks in May (another granchild) and November (when she finally gets her pension). How on earth is a man who will have 4 FOUR:banghead: grand daughters ever going to be healthy or happy? I don't want to stress the dear girls ( wives of my boys) but they really do need to sort themselves out fast. Love seeing family all together but that will be hellish :angelic:.
does "curmudgeonly" ring any bells?;);):clown:

4.9 this morning. Xmas decs are coming down today which means it’s my inevitable fight to get all the baubles back in the same box they came out of!
I hope you do better than me I packed them all lovingly back into the box they came in , passed the box up to hubby to put back in the loft and the bottom fell out and the baubles were everywhere . I said 'oh flip fancy that happening ' :angelic:

Good morning all and welcome to the thread @GravyDavey. Yours was a very decent fasting level. Well done.

Blood sugars for me today were 4.8. Have now run out of testing strips and hope the new supply will arrive in the mail today.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
I ordered mine on Thursday and they were here yesterday so fingers crossed yours will be that fast .

Thanks, @Charis1213. You were right, they were in today's mail. I have a tendency to overdo the testing sometimes -- so hope that having plenty of testing strips is not going to tempt me too much.
