I challenge @Knikki , the resident chocolate runner, to eat just one square of a 90% cocoa
Lindt chocolate under these conditions.

HMMM 90%? not confessed to trying one of those but might be a little to bitter for my tastes. Saying that I think anything would struggle in those heats your experiencing @kitedoc and although last summer here in the UK it was hot, nowhere near those in your neck of the woods, for the first time I really struggled in the heat and found it uncomfortable.

Well its Friday and looking at that picture from @karen8967 if that's her first thing in the morning ;):hilarious: it must have been one hell of a party the night before :hilarious:.
 
Morning all, not so cold today here and at the other end of the earth not so hot @kitedoc?

Had lasagne last night, thought I'd do my bolus just after eating (was 6.9 mmol at the time), it's fatty and a bit of pasta.........of course I forgot until well after - CBA to do a test and see so just whacked in what I had dialled up previously. Before bed I was 4.4, had one oreo (8g) and was 6.3 this morning - I might play the lotto tonight!
 
Excellent news about the pump. Sure its gonna be a huge change after 48 years of MDI, hopefully for the better

I got my letter through today confirming my pump start date. 27 Feb for 4 hours course and then a week of water. Live pump on 5 March again 4 hours, followed by 3 x 2 hour sessions after a week, a month then 3 months.

@porl69 Sounds like the pump is going to be "fun" thought you did not like needles so how you getting on with the canular?

The canula was the easiest bit @Knikki, a finger prick hurts more lol

@helensaramay . I’ve been in a similar dilemma all week, just not been feeling right. Feel like I’m coming down with something but up until last night nothing had materialised. I know just how you feel though. The lure of the workout, the thought that you don’t want to miss out. With the onset of a few to many years I’m now beginning to realise that missing a workout when I’m not 100% is the best idea. Really struggle to just go and do an “ easy “ session, start with good intentions but the testosterone kicks in and inevitably feel even worse a few hours after the workout is done. Never really was a problem, I think it’s an age thing nowadays.:banghead:
As for feeling off all week, well last night started to get blurry, cloudy vision. Lo and behold it seems I’ve been blessed with a spot of conjunctivitis. The rather attractive lady in Boots ( the chemist, not the thigh high leather ones ) has sold me some drops. I’ll see how it goes, no pun intended.

So, I followed your advice (which means it's all your fault) and just got back from spin.
It was the tough instructor again.
At one point, my legs were starting to feel like lead which meant either
1. I was unfit
2. The resistance was too high
3. My BG was too high
4. My BG was too low
So during a 30 second rest, I pricked my finger - 4.4 mmol/l. Not terrible but as this was only half way through the class, it was likely to fall further if I didn't do anything about it.
As the 30 second rest was over, the resistance was ramped up, my legs were back to spinning at over 100rpm and I attempted to crunch GlucoTabs whilst breathing heavily. It wasn't easy.
My tip to anyone who finds themselves in that situations is don't try watering it down with a drink - you end up coughing and spluttering semi chewed GlucoTabs across the room. Thankfully, I missed everyone and they just carried on with their spinning.
I cleared it up at the end.

Incidentally, I'm not Libring at the moment. But if I was, I should probably still finger prick as my BG falls to quickly - I had only been spinning for 15 minutes (the interstitial fluid delay) and had started at 6.2.
I guess it would be useful if I had been going for 30 seconds or more as I could see the start of a trend.
It is all our fault. We should have held a seance and predicted that you would need to glucose dose earlier.
? Gluco-gel next time ?? or a hydration pack suitably spiked with ? staminade ??

Thank you @slip. much cooler day. I posted some hours back before dawn over there. The only incident was the melting of a neglected bar of chocolate in my rucksack. The patient was already suitably sealed in foil and survived transprot to the fridge where it underwent cryotherapy and was successfully re-solidified.

Despite all the Aussie bluster we spent all day in the living room with ceiling fans on full bore and using the air-con when things went above 28 degrees C. BTW the chocolate was successfully re-solidified although as one might expect the break-grooves have disappeared! The taste is a bit bitter but the carb content for the 100g block is 14 g.:happy::happy::happy:
